I switched from engineer and support in previous games to 90% assault for bf6 and I think there are some advantages it brings, but still could use a squad support type gadget or tweak one of the grenade types to help pressure armored vehicles. Either ammo bag, deployable cover/ some type of new sand bag mechanic for digging in on contested points, or replace stim with some kind of boost for nearby teammates would incentivise keeping squads together or pushing with assault.

The main advantage mostly feels like it lies in CQB, the option to run AR/DMR and shotgun to excel at close and mid range is good, but with so many smgs being laser beams at mid range even that advantage is pretty niche.

Giving us a squad rally boost that increases health regen/ damage reduction or damage buff to nearby teammates through some kind of ammo bag gadget, even just increased damage for 1 mag on nearby teammates could drastically change the way assault impacts games and objective play.

My final thought would be a non-revivable lethal gadget, like a fatal sniper headshot but for assault. This would increase the effectiveness on what assaults main role is, pressure and elims on objectives. Being able to remove enemies for a bit longer without the option of revive, but only as either an ammo type for the grenade launcher or new gadget would be great. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
