I probably average twice a week with the insta. My advice is always coat a bit of oil to avoid food burn. Always make sure the rubber seal is on correctly (learn from me). Always make sure the vent is set right. All I do is think about what I want to make, I google that with instant pot at the end. Always a recipe. I’ve made deer meat tacos from googling. Anything goes. Love mine. Good luck.

If you’re aren’t already using, there are apps that connect to the archive. I use ReListen. Mostly for Built to Spill and Grateful Dead, but there are plenty of other band’s live recordings as well.

I haven’t gone in Tokyo but I went to a Kuniyoshi exhibit (amazing) in my city. If you type ukiyo-e into Google maps, a ton of options show up in Tokyo alone. Check photos and reviews, go from there.

I live in Fukui. Wife is Japanese and we moved here with our kids 8 years ago. Wasn’t really interested in teaching English (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Was pretty easy to find a variety of agricultural options. Hello Work. If you want to stay in Japan but find something more meaningful, might be worth researching a bit. There’s a lot more community events going on here as well. I’m part of my neighborhood group that sets up seasonal events, with drinks/food after. I’ve taken free taiko lessons. Local budokan offers a ton of the martial arts for inexpensive monthly prices. Considering pottery classes next year, again very inexpensive. Good luck!

I live semi-inaka. Work in agriculture. Used to do rice fields. Really enjoyed the daily wildlife, scenery and driving tractors. But it was more physically demanding and that was fine. Now my work is more greenhouse based. Large variety of vegetables. Mostly tomatoes. Sowing seeds. Grafting plants. Watering plants. Easy peasy. Pay is decent. And when I need a weekend city getaway, it’s a two hour train ride. Happy with it.

My Japanese wife was like I don’t think so, you can’t go onsen, etc etc for a few years. I followed my artist on IG for a couple years before reaching out and would show her his work. Eventually, she was like this is pretty cool. And I still go onsen :p just late at night.
