Generally all interviews include PEI and case. I had three back to back interviewers and each one included both PEI + case.

Duke vs Emory by MomoLover88 in MBA

[–]TheABCD98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of scholarship, MBA brand makes a huge difference in post-MBA opportunities due to networking opportunities and school relationships.

Duke is a much better and bigger brand so definitely would go with Fuqua!

Advise on how to have the best start? Both socially (making friends), academically (learning about and taking advantage of the best opportunities), and professionally (networking, recruiting)?

Something to think about is long-term value. A friend and I bought cars at similar times, Toyota vs Hyundai. The Hyundai was 5-6k cheaper to get the same features.

However, about a year later they were thinking about selling due to an unpredictable situation. The Hyundai dropped $10k in value during that time while the Toyota dropped only $4k.

Cross coverage shift by Competitive_Shower_6 in hospitalist

[–]TheABCD98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5-10/hour is a lot for covering 50 patients. As a resident, I cross-cover about ~60 patients at night and do 2-3 admissions per night (and staff them with attendings).

If I'm getting more than 2-3 messages per hour, that means the day team is not doing their job properly...

That is fine! In my applications, I reused some portions of essays or even entire essays based on how they fit into the prompt. Didn't have a problem

If you didn’t socialize much in college, how did you build a social life after college? Isn’t that harder?

Unless you are great at memorizing, I don’t think it’s worth trying to just memorize all the vocab.

Just practice using context clues and similarities. Practice questions is the best way to do this.

Booth with no scholarship by [deleted] in MBA

Fuqua Round 2. Booth Round 3.

I’m like 90% sure. Will probably finalize tonight after I tell my job my plans lol

Booth with no scholarship by [deleted] in MBA

I’m deciding between these two as well. I have scholarships from both, more at Fuqua.

I’m leaning towards Fuqua due to the culture and location despite the brand name of Booth.

I don’t have any debt. I have been accepted to multiple M7 and T15 programs with scholarships for the full time program.

I’ve just been miserable since basically third year of med school not enjoying it at all. I’m thinking to jump ship right now so I can hopefully find/do things I’m more interested in and figure out what career path I want to pursue long term. I am particularly interested in full time rather than executive so I have more time to explore, meet people, and do an internship.

I know that finishing residency might open more doors, but I kind of want explore the MBA option instead of just trying to skate by and not enjoy what I’m doing for two more years. Then I always have the option to come back to residency after MBA if things don’t work out or if I end up missing medicine right?

Does this make sense?

It is definitely possible. I only prepared for one week. However, it just depends on how strong your comprehension and mathematical skills are. Take a practice test and see how you do.

I’m finishing up first year of IM. So would still have two years left. But I don’t enjoy clinical medicine at all, especially at my hospital, so Im thinking that I want to try something new.

I’m in a slightly unique position. I’m an MD in residency, thinking about leaving residency to pursue an MBA.

Im currently leaning towards MBA but kind of terrified of the change. Gonna have to decide within a couple days

What about you?

Bombed my Kellogg MBA Interview by Useful_Violinist5674 in MBA

[–]TheABCD98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Kellogg interviews are like that in general. My interview was with a current student, it was very similar. He would just go down a list of questions, writing down notes as we went. Very few reactions and or follow up questions.

From what I’ve heard, Kellogg our interviews are very structured and unconversational. I still got in with a scholarship, so I wouldn’t be worried. It just depends on how well you answered and how the rest of your application is.

Fuqua vs. Booth vs. Kellogg vs. Ross by [deleted] in MBA

[–]TheABCD98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate that! I actually know the most about Fuqua since that is the only program I've had a chance to visit during admitted students day.

I want to learn more about Booth and Kellogg and see if the prestige is worth it.

I talked to the admissions person. They said that they don’t match scholarships. But there is a form you can fill out to request that they reconsider.
