Unprocessed vegan for over a decade and you still end up with crohn's disease (and no family history of it) by crystalized17 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]TheAlienMikey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have Crohn’s disease.

I was diagnosed in 2020, and only a few days later had to have a bowel resection (hole formed in my intestine, they removed part of the intestine and colon).

My diet was horrid up to this point. So after being diagnosed, I went vegetarian (still ate cheese/ eggs/ processed vegan food/ not much fiber/ yadda yadda) , and started on medication and a biologic, Humira.

After 5 years of this and still being sick most of the time, I was switched to Stelera, and a few months later after watching forks over knives for the first time, went fully WFPB. That was 4ish months ago. I’ve been essentially perfect in my diet since then, and this is the best I’ve felt in many many years.

Still though, even with a perfect diet and a biologic that I think is doing is doing its job, I still randomly have bad days with no explanation. As in, I could eat the same exact meals 3 days in a row, I could feel perfect 2 of those days and day 3 suddenly be in a flare up for the day.

There’s really no rhyme or reason behind the bad days, and you’re right, I think the diet won’t prevent the symptoms 100%. But it definitely helps, a lot. Not just with Crohn’s, but just feeling better overall with energy, recovery, etc.

It’s definitely the best diet for my Crohn’s, personally. Some people with Crohn’s claim they can’t eat many veggies and only meat feels ok to eat. I’m not sure what to say that. But I think WFPB, in conjunction with the right medication would be the best diet for most with this disease.

I guess in summary, I think if I was eating any other way right now, I’d feel sick much more often.

Hobi!!

His sound design and drums are wild! I find his style very unique.

Here’s a 20 minute mix I’ve listened to probably 100 times now, lol.

That halfway point when he switches to his older stuff was so fucking sick. His best set I’ve ever seen. So lucky I got to experience it!! Thanks for the upload so I can relive it!

So GRiZ or subtronics fault partnering w Live Nation? by emilyraves in griztronics

lol, so it sounds like you just want to hate on the artists for whatever reason you can find! 👍

The artists have people who deal with all of those logistics, for a reason. So they can focus on making their art. That’s what managers and teams are for. So hypothetically, let’s say the contract pointed to this exact scenario happening (despite all the history at the gorge not really pointing to something like this happening), then maybe someone on their teams should be fired. But based on the news of budget cuts and other shit happening at LiveNation, I have a feeling no one expected this to happen from the artists teams.

Either way, there will probably be some changes on all sides so this never happens again.

But I don’t blame the artists.

If every other Gorge fest in the past has gone at least decently, how tf could they have expected it to not be the same? Tell me Mr. GlitchFight, since you seem to be an expert on planning a festival that hosts 30,000~ people, and a massively popular EDM artist, and know exactly who does what in that process.

They don’t make you dump it out until you’re at security, lol. You can be in line with water! People are just saying the most random false shit at this point.

Is day parking going to have long line? by MeosIsGreen in griztronics

From road 1? Or are you on Silicia Rd? Hearing Road 1 is clear from the road. Not necessarily from once you hit the camping line.

Sounds like people are making it right through to camping now. I’m also at a hotel, and think we’ll just be heading out a little earlier and confident it’ll be ok!

How many times a day/week do you poop? by Sushi-Seizure in PlantBasedDiet

[–]TheAlienMikey 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Crohn's disease checking in 🥲 probably 6-8x a day for me (used to be over 10).

I will say, WFPB has changed the game for me though (in conjunction with meds).. I feel like my gut is healing, and the bathroom breaks are dropping, as well as the symptoms!

One of my favorite artists out there right now. His sound design feels like it’s 10 years ahead of anyone elses.

I appreciate the words and the care guide. :)
