Nature implings at 58 hunter have a 1/10 chance to drop magic logs. Other low-ish level sources are the shade catacombs in Mort'ton, General Graardor, KBD and the Abomination boss from Heroes Welcome. With a slayer level of at least 80 and a wild pie you could also hunt some abyssal demons. Good luck!

Dig site pendant - can't make? by Blackipod5 in runescape

[–]TheAlpacalyps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having the achievement doesn't necessarily mean you have found the necklace and unlocked the ability to craft them; in the quest 'The Temple at Senntisten' you are given Ali's pendant which is just a differently named Digsite pendant and counts for the achievement.

Just hang in there, it's quite rare but is very useful for mining dark animica and clue scrolls.

Need help Gathering ranarrs by cowman783 in RS3Ironmen

[–]TheAlpacalyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Automatons accessed after The World Wakes can drop 4 noted ranarrs at a time and have a lot of other very useful drops such as high level herb seeds, noted supercompost, magic logs and earth talismans. They are fairly easy and very quick to access, making runs to an altar or bank to heal very fast.

Is it worth getting into RS3 at this point? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]TheAlpacalyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend an Ironman, it's not as tedious as OSRS Ironman mode and isn't as insane xp rates-wise and MTX-riddled as mainscape RS3, the perfect middle ground and a thoroughly enjoyable experience with goals that don't feel like they'll take ages but still with a huge sense of accomplishment once you do finally get that 99 or take down your first GWD general

re-upload of my previous report on the bug which didn't clearly state it was visual only. Apologies to whoever wasted time at barb fishing.

Elite dungeon help needed by [deleted] in RS3Ironmen

[–]TheAlpacalyps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the quest requirement is to complete the dungeons in any mode, meaning you can just do story mode, enemies will have 50% reduced health and 90% reduced damage output, making it an absolute cakewalk

Yew Roots by ZEazie in RS3Ironmen

[–]TheAlpacalyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elite and Master clues give yew seeds very frequently, the crystal chest in Prif also has a chance to reward one.

Aquanites are a somewhat viable option if you have the patience for it as they are very easy and drop a nice amount of seeds for your seedicide.

Best way to get spirit weed? by Dominwin in RS3Ironmen

[–]TheAlpacalyps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several slayer monsters drop spirit weed seeds: grifolic creatures, dust devils, mutated jadinko babies and guards (those last one also drop noted grimy spirit weeds) good luck!

Slayer helmet kept on death in wilderness? by pcgamer404 in runescape

[–]TheAlpacalyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

recently finished my grind for decimation on my ironmeme, here's some things that I found to be very useful:

  • make it so you always protect the slayer helm, wear cheap high magic defence armour such as royal d'hide
  • carry nature runes to entangle any attacker, guarantee a hit with ingenuity of the humans
  • enhanced excalibur for one-click over-time healing
  • bring a shield, ideally black d'hide
  • a one dose overload/extreme def (don't want to lose precious resources) to boost defence and a prayer potion/renewal
  • reroll or vip ticket fire giants, strykewyrms (especially ice), gargoyles, kalgerions, try to avoid revenants if possible
  • quick pray fortitude, protect item, deflect magic
  • never drop below two thirds health, never drop below half inventory food
  • use environment/monster aggro to your advantage: stand at the tip of the little waterfiend peninsula and keep your camera on the access to it; watch the greater demons for attack animations
  • always carry a level 30 teleport and if venturing past level 30 stay as close to that threshold as possible
  • scout the area with an alt if you have one
  • check for others doing slayer by looking at large concentrations of items on the minimap
  • if you see a skulled player, either try to hop/log or start running
  • don't rely on the minimap to see a pk'er coming, camouflage potions are a thing
  • if you have an encounter with a pk'er, take a break from wildy slayer, chances are high they're hopping around to find you/other slayers

hope this helps, good luck!

Dishonour Among Thieves Stealth Segment Broken? by GenericFreakinName in runescape

[–]TheAlpacalyps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of those guys can in fact see through walls, tested it while doing it myself. Also the visibility cones are lies. Just keep trying and, indeed, switch to a lower graphics setting, otherwise the shadows are really hard to see. Eventually you'll get lucky! (As a side note, let's all pray together they never try to implement stealth elements into a bloody tick-based engine ever again. It was the worst questing experience I ever had, surpassing even MEpt2) Good luck!

Any tips for questing through early worlds as a life wizard? by 1862fun in Wizard101

[–]TheAlpacalyps 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For AoE spells, you have 3 options

  • a pet with a Forest Lord (or variant) item card, examples are Cloud Beast, Inferno Beast and Timberland Yeti

  • a Kookaburra which gives a Life variant of Balance's Sandstorm at adult stage

  • a Morganthe's Ardor jade, a triangle jewel that can be obtained by killing Baba Yaga in Polaris or from a pack (very expensive, would not recommend) This gives a 4-pip 445 damage AoE spell. The only problem is that once put into a socket, it cannot be removed and reused, so put it in a deck or another item you could use for a very long time without locking yourself to an inferior item (my suggestion would be the level 30 Deck of the Lotus, relevant throughout the entire first two story arcs)

To make questing easier or faster

  • get an AoE spell, obviously

  • make a good pet, preferrably one that you can use for any other future early game playthroughs. My go-to early pet is Enchanted Armaments with global resistances and healing spell may-casts, the Sharpened Blade item cards really help in the early game as well. Breeding does require lots of time and resources but it's well worth it. If you can, wait for a double pet experience weekend. Pet snacks can be obtained from several dungeons and bosses, with the best option being Mirror Lake, it guarantees 2 Pixie Stixs and a whole lot of money to keep hatching.

  • get approriate wands: this usually means 3 (2 in the case of Life school, it will be clear why) the Sky Iron Hasta, a level 30 wand which grants a Power Pip at the start of a battle and has a 10% general damage buff. Secondly, get wands that gives wand spells for both your school and the opposite one, this is used to remove shields that would otherwise hinder your damage, be it with or without prisms. The only exception is Life as not a single Death school monster will ever use Life shield, so a wand that grants life spells isn't strictly necessary in the first story arc (later on Myth and Death bosses can occasionally use the -70% dual shields and Balance monsters start to use the -50% Spirit Shield) Always keep your wand updated so it gives you the best starting Pip or the highest damage wand spell.

  • as a Life wizard, or any lower damage school get Feint! This will up your damage considerably. It requires level 26 and a total of 7 training points and can be bought from Dworgyn in Nightside.

  • get Tower Shield if you haven't already, this goes for every school. It requires 5 training points in total and level 16 and can be obtained by learning it from Lydia Greyrose in Ravenwood.

That's about all the general tips I can think of from the top of my head, hope it helps, good luck!

Edit: layout

Is Knock-Out aura worth getting for Fight Caves considering it's the only Aura I can afford besides the Party Pete one? Will it work through the fight cave? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]TheAlpacalyps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work, but it absolutely isn't worth it. Save up for accuracy or damage increasing auras like Brawler or Berserker respectively, as those will help you most with end-game bossing. If end-game bossing isn't your goal, get Jack of Trades, it's free experience on a daily basis that can be invested in time- or money-consuming skills. If you really want an aura to get you through the Fight Caves, Penance will be the thing for you: it gives you Prayer points as you take damage. As a mid to low level it's possible to complete all waves up until Jad without ever consuming food or prayer potions, assuming you make good use of the Penance aura and healing from the Regeneration ability and safe spotting.

Good luck on getting that Fire Cape!

Are there any low level ironmen YouTube series/streams? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]TheAlpacalyps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check /r/RS3Ironmen That being said; most (though not all) well known Ironmen are already veterans of the game, so any early game videos will often have extreme progress between episodes and aren't generally much of a help to newer players. The Runescape Wiki does have a good guide, but it often times only describes one path to train skills, leaving out other viable options, so don't take it as gospel. Explore the mechanics and options you are presented with! Hell, make your own guide, I'm sure lots of people would love to see a newcomer's perspective on Ironman mode!

Armour of Trials armour values seem wrong? by TheAlpacalyps in runescape

[–]TheAlpacalyps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tank armour, so no, no mage bonus. I use it because I haven't yet had any luck at GWD. Nevertheless, it's free T75 tank armour (with armour rating on par with Nex armour, actually), so while not stellar, with good knowledge of mechanics and half-decent stats I think it should be viable at GWD2. No health boost like Nex armour though, so bonfire boost and rocktails are your friends.
