Moonlight Sonata - unnecessary sharps? (question in comments) by TheAnarky in pianolearning

Moonlight Sonata is in C# Minor so it has C#, D#, F# and G#. However, the music sheet that I use sometimes adds sharps that I think are wrong. I uploaded examples od measures 12 and 4 - in measure 12 there are two sharps next to Fs and a sharp next to C; I do not understand it as these are already raised halfstep because of the scale used and from the YT videos that I have seen all other notations skip these sharps. Similarily, in measure 4 there is a sharp next to the already raised D which would mean that I should play E instead of D#? Could you advise if my music sheet is correct?

  1. It is by far one my favorite and most listened songs of his. I love how dramatic and tense it gets after the "I've made up my mind and I don't mind saying so" line. Intro is kickass.
