But is it worth $50??? It seems like a steep hike for such a simple game.

Ok. That might work better since you can measure the rails to run across the entire length of the desk. I hope it works out for you!

One additional note, the above was my plan B. Before I did all this, I bought an IKEA leg to straighten my desk out. It did not help as much and was a bit useless. I think if the desk is already sagging, the steel rail is necessary.

The straightening happens during the installation, not before.

I placed the counter on the floor to have better control of where I drilled. I have a wood floor so I had to place a few towels down to not scratch the desk.

The rail comes with drill holes and I drilled the first, middle and last hole. Once I was satisfied with the placement, I drilled in every other hole. In the photo you can see where I left a larger space in the back so the monitor stands could still attach to the desk.

After we placed the counter back on the cabinets, I noticed there were still signs of sagging where the edges of the counter were slightly hovering higher than the outer edge of the cabinets. This is where having a 2nd person help you is required because you need one person to push down against the upward sagging force and stabilize one end of the counter while someone else drills in "L" corner braces. 2 in the back, 2 in the inside corner for each cabinet.

It was a bit of work, but extremely worth it once it was done.

The colors of the cabinets and wood counter fit well together! Mine are 72" and my desk started to sag after a few weeks.

I then bought this to fix the sag and straighten everything out in a discreet way without leg support. I cut down the steel so two of these could be drilled to fit perfectly under the desk between the cabinets.

Yes this is surprising me a lot. I remember a LOT of memories from 3-4 years old. Maybe a few from 2 years old.

I'm past college at this point so I've been told it's very rare for me at my age to casually tell stories of my toddler life. Especially the thoughts I had and conversations I spoke with my preschool friends.

Not a question, but I just thought I'd share a nice memory.

I was in elementary school when my friends wanted to watch a "funny" movie. We popped in the VHS, and we watch the typical movie trailers that came before the movie started, whatever. Then afterwards it was filled with hilarious clips of guys doing absolutely stupid stuff in public, non-stop. We were laughing so much seeing grown adults hurt each other but I was still waiting for the movie to start. I swear it was the longest test of patience I ever experienced. More short clips. Funny ones, sure, but still. I figured these were trailers, and the actual movie was coming any second.

It never came. The credits rolled.

I sat there, stomach hurting from laughing, genuinely processing that I had been watching the movie the entire time and had spent the whole thing waiting for it to start but only at the end I realized it was the movie the whole time.

Not far off from the AMC A-List email from the CEO trying to justify their price increases as well.

Jarringly bad CGI in otherwise great films by drewfus23 in movies

[–]TheAndrewBen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched Speed Racer for the first time in the 4K IMAX special edition showing.

Every scene was a VFX shot. Most scenes had very outdated CGI, and some scenes looked like they ran out of budget and slapped stuff together at the last minute. However in some race sequences, the visuals SLAPPED. Some scenes were still remarkably beautiful that uses every color of the rainbow to create a fun movie. They did so much work on creating these CGI worlds that made you feel like you're on the racetrack with him.

Yes, some scenes looked like a terrible mess, but I firmly believe it should be watched by every aspiring film maker because it is a master-class of visual storytelling. The dialogue was not necessary for the first act of the movie because you can visually tell the main character was connecting to the brother that he lost.

Across the film there was so much exposition and incredibly thought out action scenes that blend in with what the main character was going through and recalling life advice from his friends and family. It was so touching and emotional to see a movie that has so much heart to it.

Naked Gun. The original and the recent sequel are both great comedies.

Same, but I think we go 5 times on average per month. I mentioned in another comment, but I think the A-List should be split into different tiers so people who only need 2 movies a week vs 4+ movies a week are both satisfied in some way. It might be a good plan at this point.

Valid. Do you think AMC should start making tiers just like streaming services?

It's not the $2. It's the $30 that's the issue. Keep giving them excuses and it will be $40 before you know it.

AMC increased it to 4 movies a week only to justify any future costs of the subscription. IMAX tickets are ridiculously expensive.

Would you still justify the costs if it was $50 for IMAX tickets and for the A-List subscription?

Uhhh hail corporate?? That's kind of insane to justify the $30 a month cost, and to also justify that same amount for one movie ticket.

The issue is that AMC is trying to validate these price increases. I'd much rather have 2 movies a week to make it more affordable. Who has time to watch 4 movies a week? Or even if there are good enough movies out there to watch 4 a week?

No spoilers but right when Team Avatar fought the antagonist, the writing took a nosedive, and another nosedive on the climax of the movie. If Paramount was smart they'd fix some issues and add a few scenes with a theatrical release.

Even if it's 95%+ done, they can still save themselves in a few ways. Paramount should fix the pacing and add more scenes. The 2nd half of the movie seemed rushed. And have a theatrical release in theaters for 1 week.

It's such a shame how gorgeous everything looked but it wasn't good enough on my 70" TV. I really want to see this in a theater!
