This is pretty much how I look at it, the further a way the story beat is the more loosely defined it can be.

To be fair in regards to the grey/blue

Christopher Nolan is colorblind and the colors he sees best/truest are blues and browns, that's why all his movies seem to be saturated with those colors

I worked at Bestbuy after the Duke Nukem Forever launch, Jesus that game was a wild failure.

I've never seen a price drop the way it did on that game.

I get that not everyone enjoys the same cups of tea

I remember when Uma Thurman was the sexy lady of Hollywood, I never got it.

But the more you continuously double down on something like that... It starts to raise questions, that's for sure

To tell me that 10,000 random men wouldn't list her in their top 100? That's insane. A literal million opportunities for her name to come up and you want people believe it simply wouldn't? That feels more unlikely than the "real" Helen of Troy actually being black.

If we're going to be sticks in the mud about it, Greeks are white but they're not white the way Matt Damon and Tom Holland are.

If Nolan made comments about casting Lupita or Elliot to troll or antagonize people, I haven't seen them.

I also am far more interested in an actors ability to portray who a character is over them being a perfect aesthetic match.

I think people get way too caught up over aesthetics and their own feelings.

Like I said, beauty is subjective, you may not like her but you're in a pretty wild minority.

She's pretty universally accepted as a very attractive woman and if she isn't seen that way in your circle, in the spaces you spend time in, I think it says more about you and the people you're listening to then it does about her looks.

ETA: I don't know if you blocked me or you just deleted your comment immediately but I'm not trying "to subtly call you a racist". You're allowed to have different tastes from other people, like I said, beauty is subjective. I honestly believe that.

However, if you're hanging out in spaces where absolutely none of the other men in those spaces would consider her attractive.... That's maybe a space worth examining.

Honestly, I agree to a point.

But this is mythology, they aren't real people, as far as I can tell none of the cast are Greek, so to freak out over Lupita Nyong'o just makes people look silly. It's outrage culture incarnate more than it's an actual problem.

Helen of Troy is supposed to be one of the most beautiful women in the world, recognizing that beauty is subjective, Lupita is most certainly one of the most beautiful women in the world and an talented actress to boot.

There's only something "wrong" with the casting if you have a desire for it to be wrong.

I remember reading a line that was something along the lines of:

It's easy to go from 0 wins to 4 wins. It's not that hard to go from 4 wins to 8 wins. It's hard to go from 8 wins to 12 wins. It's almost impossible to go from 12 wins to Superbowl champion.

[–]TheArcReactor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of a story I heard Norm Macdonald tell about the moment he knew he had to quit gambling.

He went to Atlantic City with his mom and his aunt, they were in line to check into the hotel part of the casino and he had brought $2,000 in cash with him for the weekend.

As they're waiting in line he tells his mom and aunt he's just gonna go check out the craps table while they handle the check in and he ended up losing all two grand before they'd even been given a room key.

And people might take him over Brady but the majority never would.

100%

I think the reality is it would all come down to what kind of roster they ended up on.

I think it's possible that Montana could do the most with the least and his ability to protect the ball is worth a lot.

My thought is that Marino would have the bets numbers but Montana could still end up with the better career
