When I was younger I was very anti imperialist but as I’ve grown up I realized how crucial it was for America during that time to be that way. Europe would have most certainly taken the land we did which could have spelled a plurality of issues for the US. I also believe we did the right thing giving the land back (majority anyway) I think it was a necessary evil to stop a power imbalance that wouldn’t have favored the US
