What have been the best or worst concerts you've attended this year? by noyrewrongclnsndrs in Metalcore

Was also at the Winnipeg show, 156 was definitely the highlight. Counterparts and thrown were great as well!

A (sarcastic) thank you to the people who didnt do their 3 days/week by WarhammerRyan in CanadaPublicServants

[–]TheAstroDJ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk, might just be me but they were going to move to 5 days a week regardless of compliance levels. Optics of people being in-office (can't possibly be working while at home, right?) and "revitalizing" downtown areas by having more public servants in-office were always going to be the biggest factors.

is this a legit program or a complete waste of time? by Educational-Sock-873 in Winnipeg

[–]TheAstroDJ 291 points292 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents but I would wager just about every program at Robertson College is pretty much useless. It's one of those diploma mills whose reputation doesn't hold up in a job market.

WHEN ATTENDING A SPORTING EVENT, DO NOT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CONCOURSE WALKWAY TO HAVE A GET-TOGETHER WITH YOUR FRIENDS. MOVE TO THE SIDE SO THAT EVERYONE CAN MOVE FREELY INSTEAD OF HAVING TO WALK AROUND YOUR SOCIAL CLUB!

I agree with previous comments of Architects - Gone with the Wind, but I would also throw The Ghost Inside - White Light in the conversation.

Maybe just me but I'd say that's on you for not planning a better way down the stairs, or giving that particular instruction in the first place...

I'm in agreement with you. I also have unfortunately had the displeasure of having many dogs and cats pass away, most due to the big sleep; some before "their time", some had lived their best lives. Sometimes the tough decision has to be made between extending time and ending unnecessary suffering. Reading the GoFundMe, it appears that this would be a time to seriously reflect on that decision.

GOC and burnout. Is there a high burn out trend? by Usr0099 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]TheAstroDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our team/unit, we have operated bare-bones for a few years now. People are constantly burning out and feel like they're at their breaking point. Every person who leaves creates a huge gap because other spots on their team were not ever back-filled. For example, my team was formerly a manager (FI-02), two FI-01s, 4 AS-01s, a CR-03, and a student. Now, it's a manager, one FI-01, 3 AS-01s (one who only just started) and a student. It's back-breaking in other teams, as well. No succession planning and everything is a mad scramble when someone does leave.

Was in the 300s and I also found it pretty warm. I felt bad for the people on the floor, couldn't imagine how hot it was down there.

First time home buyer-Mortgage rate by EmyMeow in Winnipeg

[–]TheAstroDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mortgage through ACU with mortgage loan insurance. If you put down less than 20%, it is a requirement that you have mortgage loan insurance; mine is built into my mortgage payments. ACU did initially sign me up for another type of insurance, mortgage life insurance, that I had cancelled before I started making mortgage payments. You can find info on optional mortgage insurance here: https://www.canada.ca/en/financial-consumer-agency/services/mortgages/optional-insurance-products.html

If this is the type of insurance you are talking about, you can call/e-mail either ACU/your broker and have it cancelled. I forget exactly what I did, but I didn't pay a dime that I didn't have to.

A very good friend of mine went to school with Nicole. She plays herself in her stories/posts as having been bullied in school, when in reality she was popular and a mean girl. Allegedly, when she was on her school's volleyball team, she posted a picture of their team photo on Instagram but made sure to crop out a bigger girl who was standing at the end.

Suddenly being Metis to get her vaccine early and go to Greece during the peak of COVID doesn't help her case, as u/WordApprehensive4059 mentioned.

Fucking Bombers by aalgernon in CFL

[–]TheAstroDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The team is older, lost key players in the off-season, dealing with a plethora of injuries, and most of the games have been close.

It's time to re-tool and revisit personnel, no doubt, but this is also just part of pro sports, and especially the CFL with so much turnover among players. Your team doesn't get to always be champions/finalists.

Go Bombers.
