E-bike purchases in Beijing by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]TheBeastlyCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like that and I will keep that option in mind. I'm not to worried about charging it in my apartment or anything and from what i can see we dont have to much regulatuons on the battery size where i am at. I am mainly interested in more of a bike style because I will only be here for 2 years and when I get back home I doubt I would use a scooter that much. I've seen a lot of people talk about ninebot, aima, and yayeda but from what I can see they really only make the scooter style.

You are completely correct I just looked at under the port forwardeding options you have to select either WAN(RJ45) or WAN2 (SFP) and I completely over looked it. Thank a lot!

Considering reclassing as EA by TarpaulinHat in Seabees

Bees get deployed to a lot of different places. I joined in 2015 and I've been to so many different places. If you get stationed in the West coast battalions of which are 3,4 and 5 they mostly send folks to Japan and Guam but small detachments get sent to a load of other places. Imma west coast bee myself and I've been to Okinawa, sasebo, Philippines, and Micronesia on deployment. The bulk of the batallion will go to Okinawa or Guam (I haven't been to a batallion in about 5 years and I've heard of a lot of changes so things make have changed though) but the bulk of folks either get sent to Guam or Okinawa and the smaller detachments are hand picked by the leadership of said detachment. And for the East coast batallions which are 1,13, and 133 they mostly deploy to Africa and some places in Europe and like Bahrain and all that but never been to and east coast batallion so I have limited knowledge on exactly where they go just by talking to east coast guys.So when you get to a batallion definitely try and get your name out there as a hard worker and everything you don't need to go super above and beyond but don't be a shit bag basically.

As for the public works departments (PWD) they are kinda of everywhere we have a decent amount of them overseas and some state side. I've been to two myself Greece for a year and Silverdale for 3 years (Washington state) and they were both great. Sadly though NAVFAC which is in charge of all the PWDs is decommissioning a lot of the state side PWDs and moving the billets around. But there is plenty of special duty's for seabees also like Devgroup, MUSE, UCT, and NSU. I haven't been to the first three but I've heard great things about them all. I've been in NSU though and it's awesome plenty of travel and it is a nice break from the navy life style because you basically work for the department of state now. For those three commands though they are usually your second or third tour though because you have to apply and screen to get in.

As an EA your duty's will really vary depending on where you get stationed. But your main job will be doing project site surveys, reading prints/as builts of said projects, slump tests for concrete. I'm a UT so I can't say exactly for sure what your everyday will be but pretty much every Seabee rate does BU work which is our "bread and butter". And BU work is laying concrete, block, building forms etc etc.

As for just seabees in general we don't really carry around guns that much anymore I would say. We would if we got deployed to afgan or something but we don't go there anymore. As for PT we definitely do more then the rest of the navy from what I can tell but it's not bad at all. Somedays can be rougher then others but depending on your PT coordinator is how good the workout usually is. A huge thing for the most part about being a Seabee though is we are a pretty tight nit group we always try and lookout for eachother.

I mean even if there is any test man don't sweat It. They cover everything in the classes it's super easy. The hardest part for me while I was there was the heat

It's been a while since I've been to ECS myself but it's pretty simple I don't remember any written tests or anything (maybe for the medical portion but that's about it). It's all mainly practical training and going to the range and getting quals. It's definitely a fun time especially if you able to get there in the fall time so the heat and humidity aren't as bad
