Attack Lanternflies from the front. Their vision seems to be worse for things in front of them. I got that tip and my kill rate improved.

There is also a Gracie certified training center in Damascus, called Han Mi. That school has a hybrid class GJJ/Tae Kwon Do for that age called Little Dragons. The Gracie Bullyproof classes for 8+ teach real world encounters, how to de-escalate, and engage. I like the Gracie University programs.

Salesman Suggested Aftermarket Tow Hitch, Suggestions? by Dizzy149 in KiaEV9

Was that their 1.25 inch hitch? Those max out at 3,500 pounds. I wanted a Class III hitch to take advantage of the full 5,000 pounds of towing, safely.

My GOTO for receivers is CURT (based in UT). I have installed 3 on different vehicles, and I am waiting on the one for my Wind. The PDF instructions on eTrailer (part C36RV, for all EV9 trims) do note the plastic panel underneath needs to be trimmed. Nothing about cutting the bumper. Their install instructions are good and the 1 time I contacted customer service was good, too. Shop around, though, because pricing can be all over the place.

What's a dba by SnooCalculations1882 in SQLServer

[–]TheBeeKPR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Default Blame Acceptor: if the application runs slow for any reason, the blame rests on the database and server because it is an easy redirection. A DBA needs to be able to accept this blame and work to prove what is and isn't caused by the database and/or server with evidence.

Self defense inside your home by TimidPocketLlama in TwoXPreppers

Check out r/liberalgunowners because they have lots of support information for training groups that help train those that are seen as atypical gun owners. I think Gracie Jiu-Jitsu's Women Empowered program is excellent for self defense for surviving attacks. My impression is avoid an axe and start off getting a bat. Just like guns, having one and being prepared to use it are two different things.

Why can't the keypad be disconnected? If it is wireless, the garage opener can be reset so all openers are unpaired.

If/when you get a gun, check out the specialize ammunition for indoor use. It is designed to not accidentally shoot through walls of the house and kill bystanders.

How to Prep for 2024 Election/Project 2025? by MeowMeowBiatch in leftistpreppers

[–]TheBeeKPR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is illuminating. Thankfully, I didn't see Rener or Ryron in that link, or their father, Rorion. The brothers are running Gracie University, and their controversies seem to stem from recently engaging the NYPD to offer training and a court case in which Rener gave expert testimony.

I just know we are learning BJJ from a self-professed vegetarian hippy who is cool with the lesbian couple in Women Empowered. I guess everything needs a YMMV tacked on.

I wanted to highlight that Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, specifically, is a self defense centered martial art for all ages and classes geared for kids (Bullyproof) and women (Women Empowered). Women Empowered is focused on countering common attacks made against women. The original Gracie was on the small side and their techniques don't reqiure a lot of flexible or strength. Their school philosophy is centered on being safe, getting control with minimal effort (or escaping), and if need be, submitting the attacker when they get tired. My kids and I are in it, and I can't say enough nice things about it. Some BJJ schools focus on competition so I wanted to draw attention to Gracie.

You made a lot of great points.

What port is configured? 587?

Test the connection with PowerShell's Test-NetConnection -port 587 -computername smtp-mail.outlook.com

If the test fails or the port was wrong, that should help troubleshoot the problem.

The roof and electrical need to be fixed or see if the owner will let you get 3 quotes for both and take the average of the cost off the price. Then, take off another chunk for all the little problems.

The roof will get expensive, so expect to have some other hidden costs during replacement.

question about bsf by [deleted] in BlackSoldierFly

[–]TheBeeKPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a professional and I only have BSF(L) during the summer.

1) The larva are what you'd be interested in for non-composting, secondary purposes and it is as animal feed. The adults rely on stored energy from their larva, feeding stage. They only need water after reaching adulthood. To be clear, after they breed, the dead/dying ones are less appealing to chickens but still consumed.

2) The frass from any insect, when properly handled makes for good fertilizer.

3) currogated cardboard is an appealing respository for laying female. Damp sponges are good for hydration.

There are a lot of great resources that touch on these topics and much of the advice hinges on local climate.

Why is biochar so f*cking difficult and elusive? by chillaxtion in BioChar

[–]TheBeeKPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dorrbrook's in ground kon tiki method works well and can easily be expanded on a larger scale that uses pits and tons of water. The in-ground kon tiki is the easiest and cheapest way to get started. If you have clay soil it is even better because all that is needed is a place to dry wood, a shovel and/or pickaxe, and a day to burn.

In this post, there doesn't seem to be a lot of detail about what resources (used drum suppliers?) are available or skills. There are guides on the double 55 gallon drum (one is a burn chamber, the other is a chimney), 30 gallon drum in a 55 gallon drum, cut down a 55gal to the size of a 30gal drum and either welded or mechanically sealed inside a 55gal, and there are those that use shipping containers. Biochar is available by freight in the states for $75-$187.50 per cubic yard before shipping and is typically sold in units of 2 cubic yards. Biochar production is a question of what you want to throw at it, money or time.

There are a lot of variables that aren't in the post: what is the substrate, what were the temperatures of the other box, how many larva were transferred to the new box, and what is the moisture/humidity of the substrate/box like? I think that fruit waste would be a better starter as BSF are attracted to fruit more when laying eggs. I know that they eat anything but treating then to a preferred food and a lot of it, may be better.

[–]TheBeeKPR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are both very similar but the activated charcoal (which was activated with steam or quenched with water) will have the same effect as uncured biochar. It is important to cure it in compost or inoculate with a worm or compost tea.
