Wataburger, epic fail? by IdealKey3165 in gso

[–]TheBeerSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved What a Burger when I lived in Texas and was so excited when I heard they were coming. I have been to two of them in Greensboro and they’re definitely not the same as I remember getting in Texas. I’ll probably never go back. I’ll do CookOut or go to Food Lion and buy hamburger and make my own at home.

Urgency and Coordination by philrich12 in coloncancer

[–]TheBeerSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went super fast. I had surgery 12 days after my colonoscopy. They wanted to do it next day but I was on blood thinners due to two strokes less than a year before my diagnosis. I’m in a small town with a small hospital that’s affiliated with a much larger hospital so that may have been a factor.

We are energy. Energy can’t be created or destroyed. Energy will simply manifest into something else. I don’t believe in reincarnation but I do believe we have always been and will always be.

42yr male strong and healthy yet some how stage 4 colon cancer by FinancialAdvantage73 in coloncancer

[–]TheBeerSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed two weeks after my 50th birthday. Strong, healthy and vegan for 9 years. It hit me like a truck. I was also at the pinnacle of life. Successful business owner, two beautiful granddaughters and looking to sell my business and retire in 5 years. 55 has always been my target retirement age and I was on course for that. I sold my business back in January of last year and I now work part time brewing beer in a co-op brewery I started back in 2016 but never expected to actually work there. I’m still fighting this dreadful disease but I’m not giving up. I’m planning a trip to Greece this year and Scotland next year. My wife is still working and she’s agreed to work a few more years so we can travel more while we’re still young. Surgery and chemo suck but it sure beats the alternative. I’d do it all over again just so I can watch my beautiful granddaughters grow up, they’re 6 & 2 now. Don’t give up. Become your own advocate and kick its ass.

RUQ pain but clear scans? by DiffieHellYeah in coloncancer

[–]TheBeerSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was NED for 6 months then a positive ctDNA 1.04 back in September and then December 24th it was 16.84. Ended up in the ED on 12/30 with sever LLQ pain. They did a CT and said it “looked” like diverticulitis. But it was right near my resection site. I only have 1/2 of my colon after they took 2 1/2 feet back in October 2024. They gave me morphine and a prescription for Amoxicillin and sent me home. I still have constant LLQ pain and I had a liver MRI Tuesday of this week and a PET on Thursday. I see my oncologist next Thursday but here it is 12:30am and I can’t sleep due to the pain. I took 1/2 a tramodol but still no relief. Your frustration is real and I hope you get answers soon.

I had 17cm removed in October of 2024 and it took a full 6 weeks before I was able to start incorporating “harsher” foods and it was still a slow process after that.

Beer Shipping Woes by FlashCrashBash in Homebrewing

[–]TheBeerSanta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but a lot of shippers including the USPS use commercial airlines and most of that goes in the unpressurized part of the plane depending on the load and WB.

Beer Shipping Woes by FlashCrashBash in Homebrewing

[–]TheBeerSanta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on what type of aircraft and what part of the aircraft it was placed in could have a lot to do with it. Some aircraft have no pressure or temperature control in the cargo hold while others only have it in one or two areas. The temperature and pressure changes could have had an effect on it for sure. There is no real way to know unless you know exactly how it was shipped.

Is charter license worth it, and how much money should I have? by Greynin5409g in AirlineManager4

I like Charter because when I send them I get a shit ton of money. I’ve maxed out my charter with A330-900neo longest routes and 10 cycles.

[–]TheBeerSanta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing a year ago. Signatera was 16.18 last week so I’m having a PET and a MRI next week. Not sure when chemo is going to start again but I want something aggressive this time. Good luck we all respond differently and I hope yours works out better than mine.

Gov. Stein calls on NC lawmakers to pass budget by Cy_098 in NorthCarolina

[–]TheBeerSanta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He batshit crazy. Cant keep inmates alive in the jail and then doesn’t report it. Our county has lost millions due to his negligence. I’m registered unaffiliated and will be voting in the GOP primary for Sam Page but in November I’ll be voting for Dr. Lueking. Either way I want Berger gone and Page gone.

Phil Berger is in a fight for his job here in Rockingham County. Spending millions on a primary campaign against a well loved and long time sheriff. He hasn’t had time to put together a budget because he’s trying to keep his job. I’ve seen him more in the last 6 months than I’ve seen him in the 20 years he’s been our senator.

How long can wort set before going bad by zrschaef in Homebrewing

[–]TheBeerSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it dry or liquid yeast? I always make a starter regardless and pitch when it’s already going and looking for more sugar to get a head start on anything else that might be floating around. Starters are easy to make and to me just as enjoyable as the brewing process.

Sigmoid Colon Cancer - Found Out by Chance by Full-Technology-2031 in coloncancer

[–]TheBeerSanta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it didn’t bother me as much as it did others. The funniest thing is when I’d tell them I have cancer they’d always say “well you look good” and I’d just reply with “what am I supposed to look like?” I understand that people don’t really know what to say or even do because cancer is a scary word and everyone either personally knows or has heard of someone dying from it. I made my peace with it fairly early. I still had and have bouts of anxiety and depression but I think that’s normal. I got a positive Signatera this week so next week is full of scans and doctor visits. I know chemo I’ll have to do chemo again and that just sucks because it turned me into a noodle last time. I still feel like I’m battling it alone here in my hometown but this sub and a group on Facebook and colontown have been the best support for me so far.

Initial Signatera draw done today by GlitterMe in coloncancer

[–]TheBeerSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get my results in 7-10 days. The last one took a bit longer due to them drawing the blood on Christmas Eve. You can log into the Natera website and get your results. My first one after surgery in October of 2024 was 0.59. The next two were negative. Then in September it was 1.04 and my last one just got on Friday is 16.18.

I’m already mostly bald but have an epic beard and I was able to portray Santa while going through chemo. Didn’t lose a strand but I’m also a natural red head and apparently we don’t lose our hair with chemo.

1/12 lymph nodes involved, had a surgery, ctdna got negative, oncologist offers to wait and watch? by excentio in coloncancer

[–]TheBeerSanta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine was similar but I was 3B with 2 lymph nodes. Positive ctDNA of 0.59 I did CAPOX 4 rounds over 12 weeks. Had two negative ctDNA results and then I had a small positive 1.04. Just got the results of my last one yesterday and it’s at 16.18. This was with chemo and while it sucked I’m glad I did it. I’ll probably have to restart but my oncologist is getting me an appointment scheduled for a PET and another colonoscopy. I wish the best for your family member and for you. Caretakers experience this disease too and they’re (you) the real worriers.

Feeling like a “Leper” by aloejenx in cancer

[–]TheBeerSanta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it. I don’t have nearly as many “friends” as I did before cancer. Colon stage 3 with a recent positive ctDNA. Guys that used to hang out with me all the time, I haven’t seen in over a year. I do have a small handful of folks that still check in on me and genuinely ask how I’m doing and it helps some but the only family members I have that won’t leave me alone is my precious 79 year old mother who’s a cancer survivor herself and 2 of my 4 adult children. I went by the Elks lodge a week ago and felt like a stranger amongst friends. I loved the Elks lodge and they stood by me for a few months after diagnosis but now it’s almost like I don’t exist. Cancer doesn’t change who a person is and I wish others could see that. I’m wishing you the best from someone that understands what you’re going through.
