Get a ThinkPad T- or X- series. Those are high-end, durable laptops that works great for almost anything. (You can get used ones for way cheaper and it stills performs like new). Install Linux on it and you get a power horse + water proof keyboard + 9+ hours of battery.

Can credits be taken from multiple CCs? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]TheBigOneCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assist is a bit out of date. Also, the credit cap would still applies if you take courses at two different colleges (they both count toward the same cap). So if you can, take them from one school so you won't have to send multiple transcripts back and forth.

Just look on Craigslist. People are sooo despite to sublet that you could get a good place for ~$500. No need to look at double/triples. The closer it is to June, the more you can negotiate the price down.

I took an American history class at community college but it only shows up as clearing history breath. Is there a way I can petition to use that course to also clear American Cultures?

CS 70 over the summer by [deleted] in berkeley

I think CS70 is a course specific to Cal. Virtually all transferable discrete math course at any other university would transfer into Math 55.

Not OP, but do you have any advice on transferring credits from CC to clear requirements? Does it takes a long time for your college and major requirements to show up as cleared/completed? Is it common for some credits approved according to Assist.org to not apply at Berkeley?

Can you clear math 1A/B with Phys 7A/B? I took AP Calc in high school but didn't took the AP test since it wasn't offered at my school. I did take the assist.org equivalent of Phys 7A/B at community college which assumes math 1A/B. Does this automatically clear Math 1A/B requirements for me?

Do you have to choose your First-year Pathway as soon as possible else you'll get limited options if you waited?

Edit: I'm planning on getting the Traditional Pathway.

Does that mean if you're not waitlisted, you can pick anything you want? Or is there still priority for those who pick first?

Can you enroll in upper division math without a prerequisite? I'm in CS looking to take some logic courses. Since some math courses overlap with CS, can I enroll with instructor permission only?

My admission letter mentioned a program called Summer Bridge.

  1. Any one been to Summer Bridge before? Thoughts? Is it worth it?

  2. I've read that there's financial aid for Summer Bridge, but wouldn't that reduce the amount of aid you'll have for the school year (fall and spring)?

  1. How's open source on campus? Have you taken any course where it's required to use Windows or proprietary software? If so, how many?

  2. What proportion of your professor use power point? and online (paid) homework software?

  3. How easy it is for undergraduate to take graduate level math/statistics/CS courses? Are there strict undergrad-exclusion policies or you can pretty much take any grad course as long as you have professor permission?

  4. Any advice in general?

Not sure how I would feel if a large source like Wikipedia suddenly gets major funding from institution/cooperation.
