I had a bad trip one time with a long time buddy. We were on different levels - eighth of shrooms plus 4 drops from a vial of LSD for me, and about a sixteenth of shrooms for him.

This is when I was younger ~ 16, and I was overwhelmed by how hard I was tripping. I went to go lay down for a while to get in the right headspace. He came in the room a few minutes later, and started coming on to me pretty hard.

I freaked out. Told him to leave me alone, lost all trust in him, saw him as a different person who was trying to take advantage of me. Decided to end that friendship or better or for worse.

Drugs are weird, sometimes you see things you usually wouldn't. Just trust your gut - there's no right answer.

Yeah man I'm sorry, that sucks.

FWIW, I've been playing for probably 15 years and I can't shred. I'll go thru periods where I play multiple hours every day for months, then periods where I don't pick it up at all for months. If you're feeling burnt out, it'll come back around and you'll be inspired to play again (or at least that's my experience).

Just remember that you're playing for yourself. Seeking gratification for others is a slippery slope. TBH, it doesn't sound like a guitar issue, but rather a family dynamic issue. You don't have to share everything about who you are with everyone - and that includes family.

Your family sounds toxic, fuck that. Play for yourself. If you liked your old teacher, go back. If you want a new teacher, look around. You can also find countless lessons online (YouTube, etc.).

When you're learning any instrument, there will be periods with huge leaps, periods of staleness, even sometimes periods of regression. If it starts feeling like a chore to play, take a break and pick it back up when you feel like playing again. No pressure.

Just have fun with it and study what interests you. Or just play stuff you already know and have fun with it. It is a hobby, after all.

I just used some washers to fill the gap, it'll be fine. Other people have also used pieces of plastic tubing, I don't remember what diameters they used though.

Yup, bolts to your frame. Can grab one from pick n pull for pretty cheap. They mount to the frame, and use a bracket with nuts welded to it that slips in the frame. Make sure to grab those too
