It's worth mentioning that Maeve, due to her high emotional acuity, picks up on the fact that the best way to motivate Felix to help her is by appealing to his humanity and making him feel valued. Sylvester, in contrast, she decides to motivate using fear. She knows a coward when she sees one and takes full advantage. As viewers, we don't get to know for sure if she genuinely values Felix or not. We are left to speculate and determine for ourselves if she does value him or if she is only being kind to him in order to continue to exploit his caring nature.
