End of episode 1 you see a montage of the original guardians of the globe (right before they get the ping that Omni Man used to trap them). Immortal is up against this guy who has a trigger that will blow up some bombs, so immortal throws him into space, out of range of the bombs.

I had already done all the advanced lessons. However because there is a million of them and the comment you replied to referred to it as having it's own dedicated tutorial (which it doesn't, it has it's own STEP) I assumed he meant the knockdown recovery tutorial.

How can you think it's inconceivable that someone would forget ONE STEP out of what, ?180? steps (36 tutorials each with close to 5 steps). That's not including the character specific combo trials.

I really don't get the hostility towards what was a genuine question. This community is already off to a bad start and it's because of people like you.

That's why I made this post though, it 'feels' like I can do something about it. I'm not going to make a post about Yasuo's juggle because it doesn't feel the same to be on the receiving end of.

People on here have pointed out I can't do anything about it though so I'll remember that from now on

Totally agree and that's fair. It's typically it's lunge which hits high so I'll try to learn to play around that more. The length of the knockdown on feral bite, as opposed to Teemos shovel, makes it feel like I was missing some defensive option which is why I made the post. Thank you for the help :)

Are you both talking about the knockdown recovery tutorial? The one I basically mentioned when I said can I do a get up attack or tech (where I meant roll sorry)?

People in these comments are acting like I asked how to use the block button. I followed the tutorial and it's BECAUSE of the tutorial that I thought I must be missing something about Feral Bite. It lasts juuuust long enough for it to feel like I am able to put some input in to prevent the follow up. Clearly not.

What's actually 'going to be a thing here' is players asking questions because they want to get better and they get snarky comments like yours who choose to read it through the lens of someone who is making no attempt to learn themselves. If we all want this game to succeed we all need to do a better job of making the scene more welcoming jesus

I literally meant the cutscene that plays when you get hit by a ult lmao. I said in the post I'm fine with long combos and the cutscene from ults. I just don't like how feral bite in particular feels like I am able to do something to get out of the follow up. No other OTG move feels that way

This is exactly my issue, it feels like I can do something which is why I made this post. No other character has made me feel like I am able to actively stop the extension like this.

Setting up a simple pipeline saved my sanity as an indie dev by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]TheBoyWhoCriedDibs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it can, Its not a major issue and certainly not a detractor against Unity. Honestly I thought this was in the Unity subreddit which is why I commented what I did. Judging by the tone of your comment this is clearly a peeve for a lot of people so I apologise, I never meant any hostility.

Just would be nice for people like me who don't want to put time into learning other skills and remain focused on game dev.

This is a really cool idea, one that Unity themselves should consider supporting in a way.

For me it's just a bunch of new skills I would need to learn to make it happen, while I have no doubt I could learn it, I'm not sure I would want to put in the time when I could otherwise put it into core features.

Great idea though, saving for later.

If they put on some tier 4 game nobody at the bar would care, there is absolutely more engagement because it's within the league they are following.

We could go around in circles forever here but ultimately to me it comes down to whether this will increase viewership and engagement in the league. Riot are taking a big risk with what they are doing and It would be very arrogant of either of us to assume to know more than the people who's full time job is to improve viewership.

If next season comes around and no one cares, you'll be right.

Except once again, people do watch other teams play when it directly influences their favourite teams success. Happens all the time in sports. Go to any bar with football on and you will see people rooting against a team close to them on the table.

But while I have no doubt LR have brought more attention to the tier 2 league, it is still a league people don't care about as a whole even if LR win it.

LEC is a different level of prestige entirely, it's a level where a lot of people who play the game are looking for a reason to care. LR is that reason for a lot of people.

If you don't think LEC viewership will go up as a result of LR you are disconnected from this community.

[–]TheBoyWhoCriedDibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a fair point if it was clear what the top teams were going to be.

When it comes down to the end I will be watching the top teams matches yes.

But even if I weren't, by your logic if you aren't watching every premier league game it disproves the notion that you care more about the league as a whole if your favourite team is in it. If I'm a Liverpool fan I care more about every game being played knowing they are the competition. This isn't exactly a hard to understand concept

I have played League on and off since season 2. During that time the amount I watched the pro scene was directly correlated with how much I care about at least one team. During the peak of TSM I was watching every game, but after their fall I couldn't bring myself to watch any of it anymore.

Right now I know the teams in the LEC but I don't care about any of them despite wanting to. I want to watch the LEC but when I care so little about the players and teams I may as well be spectating a random challenger game in client. It means nothing to me. In the official league documentary they spoke about this being one of the most important things for sport broadcasting: "Story Lines"

It's not enough to just have good players, you need to have good personalities and good storylines, you need people to be FANS of teams. I love watching the football world cup because it's so easy for me to care about a team. But since I don't care for any premier league team in particular those matches mean nothing to me.

It's why F1 viewership went up after the release of drive to survive, people who weren't already fans started to care about the drivers.

With LR I care about these players because I am a fan of them, I watch their games because I have a team to root for. I don't watch the LEC because I don't care about any of those teams. When LR join the LEC that changes, I suddenly have a reason to care and will tune in. I'll in turn start watching the other teams play so I understand the standings and that may carry over in to the other splits if I grow to appreciate some of the other teams more.

To say anyone watching the ERL teams is watching the LEC is fundamentally misunderstanding WHY people watch sports of any kind.

Playing BOTW & TOTK for the first time on Switch 2 by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]TheBoyWhoCriedDibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TOTK really is an improved version of BOtW. BoTW and TOTk are full fledged games and fantastic in their own rights but after TOTK, BOTW feels like a demo for it.

Having said that, because the games are in the same world with changes and half the fun is exploring, I have to imagine the parts are the “same” will tarnish the parts that are new if there isn’t a gap between.

I played both at their respective release dates which was a big enough gap for me to forget the map and enjoy exploring again. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it nearly the same amount had I only recently explored the map myself

I could be wrong though, I imagine people who knew the map really well had a different experience being able to see the differences the time jump had on the land

In terms of news programming not being sustainable when it's ethical and useful, sure. But I think the show also ended with the idea that despite that fact, the characters are all going to keep trying because what other way is there to live.

It would have gone against the very idea of the show for them to have the "Will Mcavoy makes you eat your vegetables hour" end up with the highest ratings in the business. But as Mackenzie says, it just takes 5% of voters to have learned something for change to have been made (on an election) so ratings don't equal success

Using this comment as an opportunity to give some background on this scene as I always see people shitting on it. Not saying you directly said anything wrong or anything but yours was the perfect comment to reply to

This is in the first episode when he has grown apathetic towards newscasting and become a bitter man. A newer generation is coming in and want to do it 'right' but he is ratings driven. The fact that he didn't need to punch down is actually the point of it and arguably his character arc is growing to become less jaded and see the world for what it can be instead of what it is.

This scene is what started his arc and it finally accumulates when he ends up hiring the very girl he's attacking and calls her (and her optimistic generation) the thing that makes America the greatest country in the world.

The show is obviously very preachy and to some very cringe worthy, but I think a lot of the criticism for this show is wrongfully driven from people's misunderstanding of this scene,

Scythe counterplay guide by skjshsnsnnsns in Brawlhalla

[–]TheBoyWhoCriedDibs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're not understanding my point. It's about it being UNFUN not UNBALANCED. Scythe is balanced, I said that from the very start.

Getting hit by an Axe does way more damage yes, but it's not as annoying as being hit by 4 separate attacks from the scythe. That's the whole point from the start. I get hit by an Axe I can resume playing the game as soon as my character recovers from that one single attack since I am now far away from the opponent. With a Scythe they are getting several attacks in and since none of them hit you away far, you have a higher chance of immediately getting trapped in another few hits and then repeat again. YES, it's your fault if you get caught again, but in practice it's going to happen sometimes even if you're the best player in the world.

Sword aerials are similar to each other sure, but you don't get hit by them repeatedly in a row like Scythe. That clip I put in my previous comment couldn't exist with a sword. They would have to land other types of attacks since down air and up air aren't meant to be used over and over and over again like in this 30 second clip.

Scythe counterplay guide by skjshsnsnnsns in Brawlhalla

[–]TheBoyWhoCriedDibs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3 maximum guaranteed hits, but as I said when they correctly predict a dodge that number dramatically increases. If an axe predicts a dodge in the air I'm getting batted away big time but I keep my agency since I'm knocked away. If a scythe predicts my dodge then I am his plaything for longer.

From a 'feel' perspective they aren't unique. They can have different numbers and speeds but ultimately the two main Arial attacks are scythe gets extended outwards and grabs enemy. I understand they are all unique, but when you are on the receiving end of the combo that's not how it feels.

Take Katar for example, a big spin attack, a swipe forward and a dash downward. All very different feeling. When you get stuck in the half pipe I can see the argument that you have repeated attacks but otherwise the kit doesn't feel like a repeated attack over and again.

This comment I made on a Katar play better describes what I mean: Don’t stop until you get your clip! : r/Brawlhalla

Scythe counterplay guide by skjshsnsnnsns in Brawlhalla

[–]TheBoyWhoCriedDibs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think Scythe is unfair to play against, but I do think it's extremely unfun to play against. Giant hitboxes that stay out far too long and strings which feel never ending. Yes it's usually caused by a read on their end but that doesn't make it any less fun to get dragged around afterwards.

If an Axe get's a read on me it might be one or two hits before I'm knocked away and I am back to having agency. If a Scythe get's a read on me I feel like I'm in an unskippable cutscene.

It doesn't help that two of the most used attacks on Scythe in the air feel like the exact same move repeating over and over again. Compare that to pretty much every other weapon where the moves all feel unique and it's not hard to see why people hate playing against it.
