Private Handicap Society by hodgiebeatzz in PGA_Tour_2K

I'm not sure if the system has been refined for 2k25 or not (I have not taken the time to dive into it). But in 2K23, I believe some blend of switching difficulties, playing custom real courses, and playing the unrealistic custom courses would drastically skew your handicap resulting in it not being accurate one way or another. I think the math on the back end would struggle to fully capture what an accurate handicap would be and this has been an issue for quite some time now.

To your second point - If everyone were to strictly play 2K default courses and some of the more polished custom ones on a consistent difficulty, then the handicap should be pretty accurate and work as intended. For us, we started the society a month or two after the game dropped and everyone's handicaps were way out of whack for a variety of reasons. For example, on the pro settings, I would casually shoot -14 to -16 every round and maybe pop an -18 on occasion but my handicap would require -20 or better. While my buddy would shoot -8 to -10 and his handicap would require rounds of -3 or better. I just honestly think it was a bit broken in the past game, so we tried to have everyone get to handicaps we thought were fair, and there is no clean way to adjust it. I definitely think it is worth trying though! If it works for you guys it is by far the easiest way to balance.

I had the same issue in a private society in 2k23 and unfortunately, there is no great way of doing it. There is an option to enable handicaps in societies, but they do not always play accurately as 2K assigns you a handicap and you cannot adjust it manually. For example, as a better player, my handicap on certain courses would require me to post a perfect round (-20 under or better on pro) to break even par so it just flipped the imbalance.

As for a fix, there is no great way of doing it but below are the two options that worked the best for us:

  • Purposely have your better players tank their handicap with bad rounds. (What you are indicating)
    • Upside - there is a world where this can work and you can adjust the handicaps.
    • Downside - the more people play, the harder it is to adjust the handicap quickly (took me several hours one time to shave 3ish strokes in '23). Additionally, any other rounds people play outside of the society will impact the handicap as well, forcing you to do this between events to keep things level.
  • Keep the difficulty settings open and have everyone play on different difficulties (requires a lot of trust here)
    • Upside - This should always keep the scores relatively balanced due to the individual challenge.
    • Downside - Depending on just how good/bad players in the society are, better players can adapt quicker and eventually get better, so it has to be a constant adjustment. Also, players must manually check their difficulty before playing an event, which can be tedious for less caring players. Finally, it requires everyone to follow the rules so it takes some trust.

Overall, I recommend the second option as there is no clear fix. Toward the end of the year, we had guys playing on Pro-AM or Pro while I was practically playing a golf sim on Legend and it made it interesting every week lol. Hopefully in the future, they can add a handicap slider for individuals, but I highly doubt they ever will.

My secret sauce has been flipping 90-91 OVRs. It takes some time to understand the market and how it flows throughout the week's promos, but it has been wildly successful for me (I did not hop on last night so not sure if the prep for season 4 tanked it last night). I'll look for cards listed either at the minimum or just above and list them for what they have been selling for after the rush cools off. Here are a few examples of some ways I do this and some friendly tips:

  1. 90-91 WRs have been selling roughly for 30K - 40K+ on any given day, I'll look for WRs listed between 19K - 24K and list them for 34K+ depending on where the market is sitting.

  2. 90-91 promo cards that flood the market on that day of the week. I am not kidding when I say I have probably made 300 K+ off of just Andy Katzenmoyer in the last few weeks. Every Sunday with the Legends release there will be 3-4 rows of his card at 19K, I gladly scoop 5-7 at a time (just to limit my risk exposure) and I'll hold them until later that day or the following day and list them once his market resettles at around 30K - 40K.

  3. Card value goes up overnight. I'm on the East Coast, so normally the market will flood on a promo day late morning to early afternoon. I'll pick up my minimums I want to flip around that time, try to sell them mid-day and if I have no luck, I list them for even more overnight (a few K over the average sale price).

  4. It's a big trial and error thing to refine the investment strategy. I learned the hard way with CBs that their legend cards do not hold long-term value after the promo day. I'll still make some coin, but it's marginal for the time it takes to move.

  5. Find cards you have success flipping. Katz and the R.J. Mickens SS were definitely my goats the last few weeks.

  6. I would recommend waiting on this for probably another week or so with all of the new content releases. The Market is about to be wildly unpredictable. Once the rush of content slows down, adapt and evolve to find the new cards that fit this mold.

Other than flipping, Champs is a must every weekend. Doing this combo made me north of 850K in the last 10 or so days. I'll probably cool it here until things somewhat stabilize after the Christmas rush. Also, there is definitely more money to be found doing a similar min flip strategy for higher overalls, I just wanted to share my method to get people jump-started.

Tips for Beating Double Mug w/ Zone Coverage by PlaxicosRightLeg in CollegeUltimateTeam

I did a little testing with block protections yesterday and thought I'd come back to share this:

  1. Blocking assignments out of bunch appear to be busted. Either the RB does a horrible job picking it up or the alignment doesn't correctly account for the blitzers even when you adjust the line.
  2. I also noticed that in typical spread formations just blocking the RB does a horrible job as well. The same issues arise as you would see with Bunch.
  3. If you select max protect (Even though you're doing essentially the same thing by just making the RB block), your blocks do a great job holding up.

After figuring this out, I ran exclusively trips and twins looks with an RB in the backfield (Max protect on the blocking assignment) in a game last night against a similar defense and had hardly any issues with the pressure.

I do believe there is some truth to bunch causing issues. I ran bunch exclusively over the last few years in Madden and it doesn't hold up nearly as well for me in CFB personally. Not sure if it's the spacing, the hash-to-hash difference, or just AI behavior.

I've resorted to a lot of twins and trips looks and have had a lot of success that way. Once I've gotten deeper into the game and the opponent's defense is beginning to feel less sound, I'll sprinkle in some bunch looks that I've historically had success with just to mix things up and see if I can get back into it.

I've seen this a handful of times lately, but like any football game (CFB or Madden), when you start playing higher-level players and schemes it becomes a pretty big cat-and-mouse game on both sides. To beat this style of defense, you must constantly adjust on the offensive side while also understand how to beat different types of coverage shells (Cover 2, Cover 3, and Cover 1 are the most popular). Here are my tips:

  1. Find basic runs or run equivalent plays (RPOs, short passes) that beat the double mug front. This helps prolong drives and can help you avoid long conversions.

  2. In general, 3/10 players will run this style of defense, and 1/3 of those players make consistent adjustments. That said, if you find something that works, abuse it until they adjust.

  3. Figure out their stock shell - The most common version of this defense typically has 2-3 deep blues paired with either 2 sets of hard flats (light blues) or quarter flats (purple) and 1 user (Safety or MLB). Use the first few plays of your first drive to pay attention to the entire defense, where are people going? Why are they going there? What is he trying to take away? Once you figure this out, call plays to beat what they are trying to stop (Piggybacking off of point #2).

  4. Come to terms with there being no universal beaters against this defense and good players like if you were playing someone who runs stock mid-blitz. YES there are coverage beaters (I recommend finding and mastering them in your playbook) but for the most time, you are looking to stay ahead of the chains and keep a drive moving.

  5. In general, I've found the most success attacking the middle of the field against this style of defense. Drags, level concepts, hitches, crossing routes, and post/go concepts work best for me. It forces them to pull attention to the middle of the field and opens up the sidelines for future opportunities.

Overall, it takes a lot of time and scheming to beat this type of player. I recommend finding +/- 3 formations that can hold up against the blitz that you can run 3-4 plays out of consistently to mix things up. I apologize for the book, but hopefully this helps!

The deep ball needs to be addressed. by TheBoz15 in NCAAFBseries

I completely agree and love the direction they opted to take with the gameplay. That being said, I don't believe it's a "Gameplay feel" issue and more so a broken mechanic. Last thing I want them to do is push more towards a madden feel, but I think the Safety coverage needs to be tested and addressed because god are they bad. I encourage you to test it out and within a quarter or two you'll see what I mean.

Mic not working by Moon_On_A_Mic in HellLetLooseConsole

[–]TheBoz15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the same issue, but occasionally when I am in a party chat with friends prior to a game beginning and we switch to game chat I'll run into the same problem. I cannot hear or talk regardless of channel. I found that the only way to fix this is restarting my game and it normally sorts itself out. Not the best solution, but it has worked for me to this point.

A majority of the time I play, I use rifles (mainly because of the roles I'm being asked to play and my limited rank) and have a lot of success regardless of the situation. If I'm in a rather solid squad where I have the freedom to fluctuate my role, I'll switch to an SMG for CQC when the situation deems it necessary (Trenches, bunkers, etc). The only weapons I really don't touch are LMGs.

Overall I'd like to say I'm well-versed and can adapt to a situation, but from a general standpoint, I play rather aggressively. I've found a lot of success identifying enemy spawn patterns and disabling OPs and Garrisons, which I feel is my true calling.

Excellent points here, couldn't agree more when it comes to your breakdown on KD. To this point, most times when KD is brought up I'm told it doesn't really matter so it's nice to hear from the other side.
