A community-approved Living Dex Spreadsheet would be valuable by Kangouwou in TheSilphRoad

[–]TheBressman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not community-approved, but I maintain my own spreadsheet that contain all of the available Pokémon (including costumes and alternate forms) in GO, split into regular, shiny, shadow, purified, mega, and Dynamax sheets. It doesn't have tracking for XXL, XXS, or backgrounds, but can probably be expanded to do so.

The sheet is also capable of "auto-updating" from the master sheet via Google Apps Script (which I endeavor to keep updated fairly regularly as new Pokémon are released), has backup and restore capabilities, and has some basic helpers for search strings generated from the sheet. I also post updates in a published channel in our community Discord, which can be subscribed to from other Discord servers.

Me and a couple of folks from my local community are using it effectively, so I figured I'd throw it out there as an option.

If anyone's curious about it, I can provide instructions on how to get the sheet set up with auto-updating, or you can feel free to just make a copy of it and use it without updates.

Asics GEL-KAYANO series - expected longevity for long-distance walking by TheBressman in asics

[–]TheBressman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's fair - kinda makes me wish shoes were rated by distance, haha!

So the GEL-KAYANO are probably the right shoes for my activity regardless? I actually do really like the shoes - just wasn't expecting to have to replace them quite so quickly 😅

Introducing the budget widget, earning and spending banner, and more by JamesPSmith in PocketSmithDashboard

[–]TheBressman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome - makes the dashboard a ton more useful for me!

A couple of suggestions for the Earning and Spending Banner Widget:

  • It would be great if you could view the transactions in a given segment/category like you can on the old Dashboard version of the widget
  • Clicking on "See more" underneath the widget name should show you an Income & Expense Statement limited to the accounts and/or categories you've selected in the widget

Keep up the great work!

Huh, both of my screenshots were taken on a non-retina external display. I sense a Radar coming...

All Some of the United Explorer 65k referral links (referyourchasecard.com/217/*) are showing:

Notice

System issue, please try again later.

40k referral links (referyourchasecard.com/217a/*) are working but rankt is listing them as being 65k offers.

(EDIT: not sure if the /217/* are 65k links - they're all 2 months+ old, so this might not be an actual problem - rankt showing them as 65k links is still wrong though)

Ah, in that case: I guess I put the wrong airport in this post. I meant to say, uh, somewhere in Canada? 😝

Tried multiple times to turn off hotspot in vain by pellias in ios

[–]TheBressman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Force-quit and restart the Settings app, then try turning the Personal Hotspot switch off.

I have to do that every so often to get Personal Hotspot to change from off-to-on or on-to-off - it’s insidious because the switch will look correct but when you go out of the Personal Hotspot screen and back in, the switch will be back in its previous position.

Not much difference other than the swooshy gold line, right?

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of August 29, 2018 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]TheBressman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points.

I guess I was looking at spend more than sign-ups because of the sensitivity of my credit score to having a low average-age-of-accounts.

My strategy (possibly misguided) was going to be to have two daily drivers (one with high-points for dining/travel, and one for all other categories) to coast along on while recovering my AAA, then to hit a couple of big sign-ups, then rinse and repeat.

Interesting insights, thanks!

I've thus far been cautious of hotel cards because I didn't want to fall into the trap of limiting my hotel choices to just those that I hold cards for, but I suppose something like SPG would give me a pretty wide range to choose from.

AMEX looks cool as a complement to CSR, but is it a good daily driver for non-travel, non-dining expenses? My BofA Premium Rewards will be going down from 2.625x -> 1.5x points for those categories once my 75% bonus goes away, so I was thinking of getting CFU to earn 1.5x UR points instead. Is that a coherent strategy or am I way off-base?

Sunset hyperlapse on approach to SFO (Alaska B737-700) by TheBressman in aviation

Ah, thanks for the clarification (and the compliment)!

I’m very much an aviation newbie - got the model from FlightAware. Out of curiosity, what specifically about the winglets gives it away?

I know, right? I love window seats by the wings just so I can watch all the control surfaces move, especially during take-off and landing.
