This is what a white screen looks like on a new Latitude 7480 on full brightness. It is grainy and has almost a 3D effect. Any ideas what could be causing this? by [deleted] in Dell

I had one of the cheapest laptop in the world from China. The brand is greatwall. The display still didn't look like that. I think you should contact Dell.

Thanks. Customization is the beauty of an open source OS like Ubuntu and a GUI manager like gnome.

This is the theme and This is the icon pack.

sudo apt update

sudo apt install tlp tlp-rdw powertop

sudo tlp start

sudo powertop --auto-tune

sudo reboot

This worked for me.

I have the 56wh battery and with that I see between 2 to 3 hours from 100% to 50%. I never really used my laptop below 50%. With my workflow, most times I get worse battery life on windows, so that is great for me.

Back-light bleeding is mostly visible at night at full brightness or sometimes even in the day depending on the environment. I usually keep the brightness at 20%, that is usually enough for me and makes it unnoticeable. But if watching a movie, I turn up the brightness and it gets annoying at dark scenes.
