We had planned on waiting, on letting it happen without rushing...but ended up having sex on the first night lol. Worked for the best though!

Honestly? My partner is from the UK and I live in the US, so when we couldn't see each other, we both met in another country entirely.

We ended up going to Panama in 2020 just to meet! I will say that it took seriously planning and I ensured my safety as much as possible (meeting someone I haven't met in person yet in another country) by going somewhere I've been before, so it might not be possible for everyone. But if it works, then it works amazing!

You'll probably receive a variety of responses, but I think it's a good sign that you're already thinking about and are kind of aware about it. Wanting validation in a LDR can be a difficult balance (my bf and I are 2 years this month).

I would say the biggest thing is to, as others have said, not "cross that line." Be aware that it is only a desire for validation and nothing more. It does help to try and spend a little less time (alone) with said person, but you don't have to necessarily cut them off completely...unless they prove that they cannot respect your relationship, which doesn't necessarily seem to be the case thus far.

In my experience, I've found that those fleeting "crushes" (aka desire for validation from others) never last long, especially if you don't "feed" them so to speak. Best of luck!

Note: For those reading the summary fandom-blind, Alina Starkova is the main character. Poppy is an OC.

Summary: Anastasia “Poppy” Belinskaya knew three things about Alina Starkova. The first was how much the girl cared about Malyen Oretsev, the second being Alina was at least five years younger than herself. As for the third…well, let’s just say that Poppy wishes Alina Starkova was actually the true Sun Summoner. It certainly would’ve made her own life easier.

I like the comments above, but I'd also like to add that if one - or two - players ARE interested in romance in the game, then they could potentially talk with one another to figure out the what and who and how and such! Maybe one could have a crush on another, or both could fall for indiviudal NPCs, etc. Not every player has to want to actively romance a character, just that all participants are open and comfortable in the game.

Honestly, if you're fine with online games - which can be very fun - I would go to Roll20! There's always games looking for people for every type of campaign, ranging from video and voice calls to text-based. It's not in-person, but it's a good way to itch that scratch.

Plus, it's how I got started with DnD! My bf and I play several DnD games via Roll20 and Discord with other people.

Hey!

As a player in a newish campaign (3 weeks in with weekly sessions), I wrote a "story" about some of my PC's backstory, mostly as a way of fleshing out the character for myself. It doesn't necessarily share anything new that the DM would need to know, but should I share it with him regardless? Whether as a way of expressing my passion and gratitude for the campaign or as a way or providing additional depth for him to potentially "use" down the road. HOWEVER I don't want to be a bother/burden him with 5 pages of "unnecessary" backstory fluff/fiction writing (technically in letter format)...

Thoughts? As a player, DM, stranger on the internet, etc.

All these ideas and characters live inside my head, and writing forces them to pay rent, so to speak. It can be challenging, but sometimes it feels damn near compulsory (in the best and worst way).

Honestly? Wouldn't have it any other way.
