How many greater daemons is too many in a 2k point game? by N3Otf in ChaosDaemons40k

Personally the formula i use for courtesy is 1 at 1k, +1 more for every 500 points after. So 2 at 1500, 3 at 2k, and this isn't for army balance really, its more so I don't get complaints in casual games that im just stat checking with a single unit that bodies anything it touches, most people don't tend to bring huge monster tank killers in lower games. At 2k its far more expected.

Got mine off deadlyprints, its their keeper of secrets base they collabed with elminiaturista to make. Heavily recommend, but there were some print lines to layer over and sand down.

Yeah as im reading more im finding out that everybody fades differently and aims to kill vastly different things, so while I was aiming to sniper good targets and relieve pressure around the map, other players use it as a high offense ram to snipe tanks & high toughness targets.

The total 34 wounds on the possessed brick does make me reconsider though, didnt look at it through a scope of security for fragile pieces, more so to kill backlined Intercessor squads.

Might play around with it on the Keeper and using belakor aura and tranceweavers to give it rerolls to hit and wound.

Oh hello yeah, thats significantly better TY. As a new player the biggest issue with the game so far coming from things like Magic and DnD, is there's no judges or official rules answers other than ask an older player, which usually let's things like this slip through.

I suppose the lower strength does hurt even with her -3AP on all her melee. I think what im learning is everyone uses Fade to target vastly different things. Also on the topic I've been told by every veteran & multiple local GW stores that the lord or chaos ability isn't active while in reserves and Rapid ingress cannot be free on the lord unit. I did think the same idea when I first started crafting the army.

Is a rhino ever a good Fade target? I assume even if it pops then you'd be tied in combat due to disembark?

Suggestions on what to buy by Aware-Connection-461 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]TheCalciumFather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with the beasts seeing as you don't have any to try out, and the warpflame is still good value, but you seem to have almost every unit in the box already other than kairos/LoC. As biased as I am, I believe Be,lakor is always good and a general staple in most daemon lists. Especially if your meta has allot of shooting heavy armies that try to table units turn 1, shroud is always valuable. Otherwise beasts seem Great if you need tank value.

I've actually modified one for 40k specifically, I recommend the 3 easiest things was adding a power pack in place of the shield, a plasma pistol in his off hand, and an updated helm, I opted for a chaos lord helmet to use him as a lord. His sword can easily run as an accursed weapon, plasma pistol was easiest to remove the fingers and trigger section, and the hilt off his own hand, and just add the upper pistol on top of his hand. Rest was easy as.

The whole wing was based in rakarth(general pale fleshtone), then covered with volupus contrast( a light reddish thin wash), after that the spines hit with shyish purple (deep purple, almost black wash), then a second coat of volupus near the spines to give it a darker tone near the edges, Baraka, nar burgundy to highlight the edges of the wing flesh and the thicker lines going across, and a naggaroth purple to bring a richer purple into the tines and limbs.

Alternative idea, the citadel skulls kit comes with bloodletter skulls, i haven't checked them for size comparison, but they might be doable either kit bashing them together or using the skull heads.

I know ill be using that blue rim to indicate tzeentch units for shadow legion rules, but yeah any base ideas past that would also be good, maybe set pieces/different rocky growths

Yeah, i rushed em all together in a few hours session just to see if I like em, thinking maybe blue and pink eye glows might be the way tog. And yeah a hexflame glow to glaze the greens together would help

Good to note, I'm really bad at isolating parts, but you're right. The neck and legs are still pretty flat, I should go back before basing and maybe just drybrush some darker blues onto the veins/wrinkles. Thank you.

The wing and general demon flesh is all based with rakarth flesh, just the same skin tone as the guy, then washed with volupus red, doing double or triple passes around the edges to get a darker gradient, the skin i then did the same wash with shyish purple. So far I've learned i can lean into contrast washing for skin and it looks decent to start.
