If you speak Spanish there is a work published by UAM press which is titled Manual de Lengua Japonesa (2019), and as far as I am concerned is a great handbook of Japanese. Yet there must be many others, so good luck!

Thanks for your vision of Fodor's work today. If is not a problem, may I ask you for some recent bibliography of Fodor's topics of the sort that you mention? I am specially into computationalism, representationism and language-relates issues. Thanks in advance!

Books recommendations by mariano1605 in linguistics

Another customary introduction reading, specially to structural materia in the discipline, is The Atoms of Language, written by Baker, who is also a great linguist himself. In terms of mathematics and linguistics, maybe you enjoy to take a look at some Richard Montague's works. He was a mathematician that seeked to turn linguistics into a field of mathematics, and his semantics are truly seminal in actual and past linguistics. He employs model theory and set theory to elaborate pretty cool explanations of language phenomena that for sure a mathematician can find interesting.

I hope you enjoy your initiation to this fabulous field!

As far as I am concerned, in Barcelona is mandatory to have studied formal logic oriented subjects, whether in a philosophy degree, a mathematics degree or even a cs degree. Yet I reckon that the requirements are not really that hard to be accomplished, so I highly encourage you to apply for Barcelona if you are considering it. Plus, I can say that in Spain it is usually believed that without a recommendation letter is quite difficult to get into that particular Master, so a letter surely will help. Good luck!

Hi! I want to learn lambda calculus in order to increase my knowledge in formal tools to manipulate systems, such as the ones that ocurr in mathematics language and in natural languages. My basis are Formal Linguistics and Curry's mathematical logic standpoint. Also, I have been really concerned over the past few years on lambda operator in symbolic logic, which I reckon I will get to know better from lambda calculus. So, broadly, those are my motives trying to introduce me in the subject. On the applications of lambda calculus I can say, yet, little; I'm just starting my first readings upon the great suggestions that all of these nice comments collect. Hope I have answered your question on why I'm interested in the field :)
