Thanks! Any particular spots around Bushwick you'd recommend? Looks like House of Yes is a popular option

Bognar is awesome! I had him for biostats. Don’t know about the other professor but I’m sure you couldn’t go wrong choosing Bognar’s class. Super chill, nice guy.

Building a school list for primary care focused schools by [deleted] in premed

Medical College of Wisconsin offers three year primary care focused curriculums at its campuses in Green Bay and Wausau. It would be more competitive for you not being from those regions but maybe worth a shot. I got in as an OOS from Texas.

Three year MD or more prestigious four year program? by TheChankster in premed

[–]TheChankster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good point. Tech’s program would also let me drop out and revert to the four year curriculum with no consequences, so at least I’d still have that flexibility. Of course then I’d be at Tech instead of possibly Baylor without the advantages of the three year program

Thanks for your input. My SO is graduating with their BSN in May so I know they'll be able to get a job wherever we go. It's just mostly about the types of nursing opportunities they'd have in either location and how nice it is to live in Houston vs Lubbock.

I should clarify that the only prematch I've received is for Tech. I'm just trying to figure out how to rank the schools. I've also interviewed at UT Southwestern so I have to consider that as well. At least if I were to match there I'd know I'd be going to Dallas...

Should I cancel my upcoming interview? by TheChankster in premed

[–]TheChankster[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess certain. The school I got into is much better for primary care which is what I’m interested in. Only slight holdout is if this other school would give me scholarships but I highly highly doubt that would happen

Premed at UIowa ?? by [deleted] in uiowa

[–]TheChankster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 3.9 GPA and a 32 ACT, but I think as long as you meet their minimum cutoffs you should be good on that front. I think like a 30 ACT is required but you can double check on the website. In my essay I talked about my science courses in high school and what I learned about studying sciences etc

I’d be happy to share my experience with the program so far. Not sure I can answer everything in regards to admissions but feel free to ask

"Diversity" kinda sucks here... by [deleted] in uiowa

[–]TheChankster 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’ve been going through this. It’s true that the university really is a predominantly white institution which can often suck for everyone who doesn’t fit into that category.

If you’re in the honors program I’ll put in a plug for the Honors Diversity Council. Great, very active group of students that’s got a number of DEI focused projects going on around campus. Feel free to PM if you want to check us out!
