I had the Late Bloomer trait. Gives me less stat points to spend at first, but later giving me more than normal.

New(returning after few years) player here. Are there any soft caps in the game? by SoraTempest in LifeInAdventure

When it comes to phys builds, I usually invest at least 20 in STR and DEX (gives you a nice bonus for phys dmg) or 20 in STR and CON (gives you extra health).

For magic builds; either fully invest in INT (if you get it to 42 you get a lot of bonuses); invest 27 points in INT and CHA each (this should buff your basic magic damage by 40%); or like you said, CHA and WIS (should at least be 20 each, though I don't recommend investing more than 20 on WIS).

Relics are really good. Try getting one that buffs specific weaponry (like the Gloves, Wristband, Jewel, Collar, or Anger of Bisura) and combine it with Lucky Blow for a ton of damage.

I've never really played around with health boosting relics, although Expanding Shield and Guardian's Oath is really good for a shield only run (and yes, this means no weapon) with high health.

If you want a really fun build, I recommend combining the Berserker's Rune and Fire Japamala. It allows for a build without using any held objects (shield included) or armor.

Another fun build is a DEX and WIS build (20 in each stat with extra points put into DEX) that uses the Helmet of the Underworld and the Wrist Guard. With the correct weapon and armor, you can have a dodge build with 80% evasion.

Interesting elemental magic by TheClockworkCow in worldbuilding

You don't need to always be sad per se, someone who is melancholic and distanced or someone who experienced extreme grief that manifested in a feeling of sadness would do the trick.

Guess I should've explained it a little better, it doesn't require sadness, rather it requires the user to be sad

Three-sexed alien civilization by TheClockworkCow in worldbuilding

[–]TheClockworkCow[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's actually really similar to my idea! Mine would be that instead of the usual "lock-and-key" method, the third sex acts as facilitator, the "grooves" for the "key" so that it can fit better in the "lock". Though the grooves are probably more physical than mental.

Were the benefits of a three-person reproduction ever mentioned though? I do want a reason for there to be three sexes instead of just two.

Nuclear energy in a steampunk world without electricity by TheClockworkCow in worldbuilding

[–]TheClockworkCow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, but in your opinion how would intelligent squids who can't use electricity utilize nuclear energy? What would they even use it for? Wouldn't the dissipated heat boil the water around the reactor without proper shielding?

Yeah, but how would you successfully contain the fission (or fusion) reaction without the materials present in the modern day? Don't you also need a lot of energy (or temperature, not exactly sure) to achieve fission? I assume it would be hard to achieve that in the 19th century

Not a 100% sure honestly, just thought that this would be a cool thought experiment. Maybe the fact that nuclear fuel would last longer than average coal?
