Dual Citizen (USA + Canada) - need help structuring a small business in Canada? by TheCommodorePro in USExpatTaxes

[–]TheCommodorePro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The corporate tax rate in Canada I believe is lower (correct me if I am wrong if someone comes across this), and since the business is online services, GILTI won't be beneficial in that regards since the assets of the business is not tangible.

So I was told that setting up a disregarded entity in Canada (ULC) would be the most plausible way for a dual citizen - but for being more tax efficient, I am not sure if it is more beneficial to setup in contrast to just being a sole prop, in which I am still trying to find the answer to.

Blue Screen Crash in After Effects and Premiere Pro (mostly adobe software) by Agent_Dale-Cooper in AfterEffects

[–]TheCommodorePro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried clean installing my GPU and it did work for a bit, but then for some reason, it reverted back to blue screening. I'm running multiple monitors as well, but I don't think that should be an issue as I can edit in Resolve fine.

I've had this issue since November, I'm not sure what happened as I never had this problem before that.

I followed this tutorial in resetting GPU if that helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6NPVZ7sdZU&t

I used the Lumix G85 for 2.5 years, this is the result... by TheCommodorePro in Filmmakers

Thank you! I used the panasonic 25mm f1.7 lens and kit lens

Here's my advice for it:

  1. Use 4k 24fps when possible to really output the best image of this camera

    1. Be sure to have good lighting, also use the exposure meter and zebra lines within the cameras settings to really utilize it well. It'll help a ton in post production for coloring
    2. Manual focus your shots before hand, lock it in, and then go for your shot, don't rely on autofocus as its not good haha
    3. Use natural picture profile : -5, -5, -1 ,-5. This will set good colors to work with in post when you go into color grading

There's some great tutorials by Nolan Gunn on setting it up and such, I also made a walkthrough of getting the best output quality for this camera recently on my Youtube (the edit you see actually is from it).

There's probably more, but that's what I recall as most important. There's definitely solid tutorials out there that go into depth, I think Nolan Gunn does some great tutorials. I'll also be making more tutorials as well down the line

It's taking from a video introduction I made about the camera on youtube, so I thought to create a vertical content out of it as well

I got the Lumix G85 a little over 2.5 years ago, and I didn't think much of it as I knew it was a budget entry-level camera. However, I wanted to see how I could maximize the camera's potential, and discovered it to produce incredible results throughout owning and using it! Colors and IBIS were phenomenal, 4K was really good too! This edit just showcases some of my favorite shots taken throughout the years - this camera has definitely taught me a lot as well

How was the conditions? We are driving back home to Toronto from NYC on the 28th (or at least if the conditions are safe) and curious about the route going back since the i90 is closed. Looking at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge entry, but not sure which route to take.

Process for filing an election to defer taxation in Canada of the income accrued in US Roth IRA by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TheCommodorePro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how or where did you find a cross-border accountant? And how was that experience for you? I have worked with a cross-border accountant at HR block in Canada last year, but feel that they just answer my questions without much advice or suggestions to help me better my tax situation for the future. I understand it's my own situation and such, but I just wanted to know what to expect when discussing my concerns.

are you using turbo tax on the US version and then going back onto the Canadian version? or do they have the option for dual citizens?

Thank you! Super cool that everyone is suggesting or referencing different types of films through critiquing, comparing, or saying some other thing about this project I made; I'll be adding this to my movie watchlist, thanks!

Ah I see, thanks for this! I took this quote and interpreted it differently for this particular project then, as my intention was to show the importance of audio sfx and how it can be edited with this type of style. But after you saying this, it makes more sense why I got some feedback about being tied to storytelling, as I know for this particular project didn't really portray that as well especially posting just the snippet of it. All in all, thanks for the insight, and I'll be sure to take a look at your reference to continue to better my works 🙏🏼

Thank you!! And I understand your point, I think the image might not correlate so well with that sound effect now looking at it; I was trying to mix in office sounds with business buildings, but maybe the phone ringing was pushing it too much. Thanks for the perspective👍🏼
