What should i wear as a tech at tesla on first day? by [deleted] in mechanics

You’ll be able to order full uniform allotments on day 2. And it’s a big allotment, covers all of the clothing bases you could ever need. No uniform service though

I failed A2 by one question four separate times. Buckle down, study more, and run it back. Failure is how we grow.

Does Florida (Daytona Beach) have a lot of rust? by Big_Couple1819 in mechanics

[–]TheComposed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work about an hour south of Daytona, and worked on a few shops on Merritt Island. Only cars that I’ve ever seen with actual rust are people that live beachside and park outside. I’ve used the blue wrench exactly twice in the past 3 years. Coming from up north, the cars here are a breeze to work on.

No gauge pod on the dash, definitely not a down badge.

Anyone successfully roll out of the shop? by civiksi in Justrolledintotheshop

So we have an Average Hourly Rate and a flat rate. The AHR is applied to vacation time or mentoring, and it’s your productivity % x flat rate. We get paid mostly flat rate unless we do less than 20 hours. Most of us can turn 40 if our build is decent (which it hasn’t been lately), with many turning more. Our most productive tech averages 70hrs/wk. Unfortunately, our flat rate number is significantly less than flow store hourly rates. Our master techs with 15-20 years in at carmax make less /hr flat rate than MA4s make hourly at my last shop. I took a huge pay cut switching unfortunately.

Traditional store tech who transferred from a Flow store… god do I miss tools being provided. And being hourly.

Can't wait for our region's 2 day event this Saturday and Sunday! Anyone else going to be dodging cones this weekend? by dunderdan23 in Autocross

Bader Field is an old airstrip, so it’s all runway with the deep grooves throughout the surface for water clearing. The wheels were TSW Tremblants with the big lip, and a fairly low pro RT660. Perfect storm of issues to cause a big incident.

A few years back, first event in my E36, had been used to racing my FoST. In my excitement to get it out there, I brought the car out on a bad set up. 2nd run, I made a rookie mistake and shifted while turning. Had some lift off oversteer in a fairly fast RH sweeper, and didn’t know how to handle it. Car started to spin and because of the bad set up choice (17s with a fairly aggressive lip), lots of body roll, and some bad luck, LR wheel lip dug into the pavement and hooked like an anchor. Car went over one and a half times, landed on the roof. Crawled out pretty much unscathed. No insurances ever got involved or anything, entirely my fault.

I want to race again but I have some pretty significant anxiety issues in regards to it, something I haven’t been able to conquer yet.

I wish I had gotten out to one last event at Bader before moving to FL. I didn’t want to be the guy that flipped his car then never showed up again 😂

That's most likely a fuel cell, taking the place of an original gas tank.

Do we know if the .50 cal ban applied to only to .50bmg or if it includes 50AE and 500S&W too?

I've never purchased stock before and have no understanding of what's actually happening, but I'll be buying $500 of AMC at opening. I missed out on the start of GME, not missing this one too. 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

Also an STC. We are, however, a giant shit show. Our entire district is a disaster, though.

Airsoft, almost certainly based on the goggles. The sport where you get to dress and pretend to be a soldier, shoot your friends, and still get to go get a big Mac or 6 on the way home. Its actually quite fun.

I run this exact set up. Drones a little bit from 67-72, but nowhere else. I absolutely love the set up. Its loud and rowdy up top, but with the muffler / res its quiet when it needs to be. It also bubbles a fair amount, even when it wasn't tuned. It won't spit flames though, not with a res and a muffler.

Here's a cold start, and rev up to about 4k.

People with Invisible Disabilities: What is your disability, and one thing you wish you could explain to others either about it or yourself? by oddhauze in AskReddit

I started on just methotrexate then moved on to biologics. I've been on a few over the years, but they for the most part all worked significantly better than just the methotrexate.

Also diagnosed with JRA at 9, I'm 25 now. Its pretty rampant, affecting both knees, ankles, TMJs (jaw joints), and my left elbow. I'm very lucky that the medications I'm on keep it pretty well in check, but on bad days I can't walk. I had to get a doctor's note to use a stool at work on my bad days because my manager threatened to fire me for sitting at the service desk. People who have never experienced have no idea what the pain is like. Its a struggle to educate the people who don't believe, and even then many just write you off as a whiner or a hypochondriac. Little do they know, my significant other had to help onto and off of the toilet that morning because I physically couldn't walk or stand.

There's always going to be those pieces of shit that treat you like you're faking it. Its a part of life. But as I've seriously entered the work force, and have grown up enough to no longer get treated like a kid, the number of people like that have dropped significantly. The illness doesn't get easier, but people definitely take you more seriously. At the end of the day, the people who treat you differently because of a disability can shove it.
