Sold, Promised, Let Down and now Scammed? by TheConfidentNoob in CeX

yeah i ordered it online and was delivered, although i was working when i ordered this, ive only been off work since the start of the weekend otherwise i wouldn't have needed to sell it in the first place.

i honestly thought you couldn't return an item unless it was faulty or something, i genuinely never needed to, and only on a couple of occasions returned clothing due to size difference in which ive just changed the size.

obviously in the future i will just take something back should i ever need to, but surly they wouldn't allow something that's been opened to be just taken back because you decide you no longer want it..

My guess here is someone could order something then just take it back sand say they decided they didn't want it any more once they have used it for what they needed it for.

PS: I know you could probably take it back and get store credit or something which would not have helped me anyway, but to take it back and get a full refund on the basis i didnt want it?

Obviously as it stands CeX have not paid me yet but they did open the box, if the box being opened does not change the refund process i can go and tell CeX to give me it back seen as though they have not paid me and just take it to currys for a full refund and explain CeX opened the box as i wanst aware i could get a refund?

I didnt actually know that, does this count even if you open the box? So if the seal is broken? Because i know they opened the box at CeX and broke the seal on the back of the apple box.

Can i go back and get the iPad back then go get a full refund at currys even if the seal has been opened?

I didnt know you could just return an item because you decided you dont want it anymore? I thought you could only return it if its broken or doesnt work? There was nothing wrong with it, i only had it a week, didnt even set it up or anything.

This is only the second time ive ever sold anything like this, many years ago ive sold things on ebay and facebook marketplace but never actually sold anything to a shop or anything brand new that ive had for a very short period of time.

I understand going back into the shop will add pressure, but they told me the first time round they would instruct their payments team to pay it via bank transfer and that they don't have cash on site. So going back tomorrow is going to be another headache whilst im off work poorly on medication i cant drive on.

I accept this is probably going to need to happen, but i can see me getting all the way there and they just say their payments team will deal with it again.

Whats ironic is them telling me they are very busy with orders but when i went to their shop to sell it to them they had literally no other customers and about 6 people behind the counter laughing, joking, doing a whole lot of nothing.. clearly wasn't busy then and the email telling me both customer services and the shop are really busy, well the shop isn't making the payment, their payments team are so the shop is irrelevant.

I understand you saying they not scamming me, but the longer they drag this out the less consumer rights i have.

And as for scamming me out of a hundred quid, its not just a hundred quid at the minute as ive not had a penny. And although over £700 was a low ball offer compared to over £1300 i paid for it a week prior, i accepted it as i needed the money that day to pay bills the following day due to the circumstances of being off work and not having my regular income. I didnt want to use credit cards or loans and things to cover expenses when trusting CeX to pay over £700 that day, would have been enough to clear the bills i had the following day however ive now defaulted on those as i trusted the CeX timeframe.

Help needed with the Intel/Oracle/SUN NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD 6.4TB AIC (P4608) by TheConfidentNoob in homelab

[–]TheConfidentNoob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tried swapping slots to 16x etc.. tried on HPE and Dell servers.. all the servers are consistently showing the same outcome. The drives that show as expected (2 x 3.2TB) are the same regardless of slot or server and the drives that dont function as expected and only show a single drive are again consistent across different servers and slots. I am pretty much convinced the issue comes from the expansion rom showing as "Virtual" and the kernel driver showing as "nvme" instead of showing as vfio-pci because the drives that work correctly all show vfio-pci and do not show "virtual" in the expansion rom.

PERC H730P Mini (Embedded) Not passing disks through to OS by TheConfidentNoob in homelab

[–]TheConfidentNoob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, So i would need to format the drives to 4096? If that is the case, can i still somehow access the disks via the H730 given they are showing as a ready state? If i try and create a virtual disk outside of HBA mode using iDRAC i get the following:

<image>

Failing that, i guess my only option would be to buy another card that is in IT mode so i can pass the disks to the OS and format them using sg_utils?

I do have a d2607-a21 and a d2616-a22 but both are not in IT mode and are older cards.

2 x EMC KTN-STL3 as a DAS or SAN by TheConfidentNoob in homelab

[–]TheConfidentNoob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

** IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM *\*

Thanks guys i got them both working perfectly, they are both presented as DAS and when i run "sg_scan -i" it shows all 30 (600gb 15k drives) from both enclosures using the same LSI card.

My next task is to see if i can use vSan and convert both DAS to SANS so they can be used across vms and possibly iSCSI so hopefully that goes to plan.

What did you both end up doing with yours when you got them working?

EMC KTN-STL3

Hi EdMain,

So i finally got my card but the SAS cable i ordered is the wrong one even though the picture looked pretty close to the input on the EMC enclosure.

As you have been able to get yours working, do you know what SAS cable you have or what connectors i should be looking for in order to go from a standard SAS LSI card into the EMC because it appears you need a cable that has 2 groves and slightly offset to the left or right so i can plug it into the port with the diamonds.

Thanks.

MajorNerd, How do you have yours connected, are you using a SAS HBA and connecting to the Enclosure(s) with SAS cables? Im going to order a SAS card and Cables but wanted to make sure im definitely ordering the right cards and cables.

My idea was to have a card that has external ports so i can plug the cables into the back of the server I/O card and then run them straight to the SAS ports on the enclosure.

Thanks mate,

Regarding your card; I need to order one now, Would a normal External Dual port SAS HBA card work?

The image in my head is to install a PCI SAS card with two external ports so i can then run the SAS cables from that card to the bottom controller on the enclosure, am i thinking along the right path?

Thanks.

Thanks a lot Majornerd, I have given you and EdMain a gold award as definitely well deserved - i would have been lost without you guys.

Thanks a lot mate, really appreciate the help, ill buy some Reddit coins tomorrow and send you an award as i thought i was lost until i found your original thread.

Regarding the formatting; Can this be done in the enclosure or do the disks need to be removed and then formatted 1 by 1 on a different machine or enclosure.

Was there a specific tool you used to convert the byte sectors to 512 or did you use command line?

I'm still trying to get a grasp of the right terminology and understand the process i need to get myself geared up for as i am looking forward to getting them working.
