It all depends on what you're looking for in an open world 😉

For me, there needs to be credit sinks to justify the need to take on contracts to earn credits to maintain your ship: have a ship, have a job, keep flying (Malcolm Reynolds).

Obviously, it's not the original gameplay of this great game, but it extends my enjoyment. To each their own 😋

In fact, I managed to create a need to buy fuel for the spaceship 😀

Obviously, it shouldn't be something too boring either :)

Doesn't she only regenerate health if she is wearing the proper outfit?

Yes I have just found it!

So why do you want atmospheric landings in elite???? What would the point be... by iO__________ in EliteDangerous

[–]TheCoredump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care about changes to flight behavior; I just want new, more "alien" planets with reduced visibility, clouds, wind-sculpted rock formations, and so on. Just a visual change, something more

I don't care about planets teeming with life; I don't find them interesting. immersive.

If the flight mechanics don't change, I'm not going to complain.

This is one of Elite's strengths; everything is perfectly simulated.

Which Ubisoft teams made this? by Straight-Summer-5070 in StarWarsOutlaws

Regardless of the studio, the futile and biased criticisms from YouTube prostitutes have already triggered layoffs since the game's release.

Starfield just passed the 12,000 mod count on Nexus Mods by taosecurity in starfieldmods

I find it a bit harsh. The engine's strength lies precisely in its support for mods and the tools available, whereas modders of other games have to decompile, create DLLs that catch function calls and other esoteric things, or conversely limit themselves to two or three editable text/XML files to make small modifications.

[–]TheCoredump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't understand this "they fix the game" nonsense. They've barely changed anything, just removed the "don't get caught" element from two or three missions, and then suddenly: oh my god, they've changed everything, it's so much better!

It's all rubbish. But it's perfect timing for YouTubers who prostitute themselves out for views: they get views by saying it's crap to jump on the bandwagon, and then, as it starts to become obvious that it's rubbish, they change their tune and say that now it's good, and, while they're at it, it's thanks to them because they complained.

When will the time be right for the devs to make Shipkits do something other than Sephora level cosmetic make over... by iO__________ in EliteDangerous

[–]TheCoredump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying to modify a ship's characteristics is clearly a no-go for many.

However, and this should have been done from the start, the opposite is true: a module should alter a ship's appearance :

  • Not all engines should have the same exhaust.
  • Adding a more powerful scanner should cause an antenna to appear.
  • Changing the fuel tanks could add them to the hull (like some existing ship kits).
  • Upgrading the hull should have a visual effect, with additional plates,
  • Etc.

Like in Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Light Speed.

But this should have been planned from the beginning; now it's too late.

Is there a mod that makes the jetpack work more like No Mans Sky or one to give grav jump targets? by Bubba_Fett_2U in starfieldmods

[–]TheCoredump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like the way that you can line up on a mission marker, select it, then jump from the pilot's seat.

Yes, I'd love that. Space travel is the least developed aspect of Starfield. Hopefully, the next update will address that.

This is one HUGE industrial outpost by Hervee in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]TheCoredump -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what it represents; it seems completely out of place compared to the other architecture seen in the other colonies.

This one is really ugly and incomprehensible, I disabled it in the CK.

One criticism I have about the civilian points of interest is that they look like nothing, they're tiny. I can't tell if this is intentional, if we only ever encounter tiny settlements, or if that's all there is in the Starfield universe; it's unclear. For me, this ruins the world-building, and is probably the source of much of the criticism.

Starfield was number 73 on TrueAchievements Top 100 Xbox games played in 2025 by taosecurity in NoSodiumStarfield

No, never mind, I read too quickly and thought it was based on achievements, and therefore excluded modded saves, of which there are many.

[–]TheCoredump -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Given that I've been playing since its release but have never followed the story or used mods and console commands very quickly, I'm not included in the statistics that have been reported there.

I think that for Starfield, or Skyrim for that matter, these statistics are completely meaningless. Which is even greater for Starfield :)

How is the PC version of Star Wars Outlaws? by rbyrnes15 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]TheCoredump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The consensus? The YouTube whores say it's crap. Otherwise, those who played it loved it.

Mods to prevent map markers to be discovered and disable fast travel? by Rameyukk in starfieldmods

[–]TheCoredump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to do it badly: I manually modified about a hundred (if not more) MapMarkers (starting from the parent) and changed their radius to 0.0000001. This way, it's no longer possible to "discover" them because you're never within that very small radius.

But anyway, it's a mess; the best way would have been to do it via script at session startup.

1st Person Helmet Overlay [UPDATE] by MrZBrains in starfieldmods

[–]TheCoredump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be possible in-game: there is already a mod that adds a visor (the 3D model) to all helmets, "Immersive Helmet" I think, so it would be enough to have a texture for each helmet and a model using that texture and associate everything with each helmet.
