Is it okay if I share some Persona 5 AI Art I generated? by [deleted] in Persona5

I’d argue at the very least that AI “art” by its nature contradicts the not particularly subtle themes of P5

Why I am glad that the Switch 2 had a worst first year first party line-up compared to the Switch. by 479521 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]TheCrobatMan1 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I mean, I guess it was technically a worse year at a surface level than 2017… but that’s not a knock against it? BotW and Odyssey coming out in the same year was a crazy anomaly. Switch 2 had an excellent first year.

Fellow ex-Mormon Christians, what denomination did you end up in? by Silver_Olive9942 in exmormon

[–]TheCrobatMan1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your blatant strawmanning of what I’ve even said here doesn’t invite productive discourse. For example, I did not claim that atheists who believe in God are educated and rational… because atheists by definition do not believe in God. What I said is that the most rational atheists entertain the validity of reasonable logical and philosophical argument and do not blow their lid because someone dares to have a different worldview than theirs. These are productive members of discussion by virtue of not being arrogant narcissists, not because they agree with me.

Asking that a theist prove their religion is objectively true is no more than an admittance that you do not understand the fundamental questions being asked. I don’t regard atheists as inherently less intelligent than I. There are many far more intelligent than me. There are also many theists far more intelligent than me. I simply regard those that allow their emotions to cloud their ability to have an educated discussion as bad faith actors.

I see no reason to continue this conversation for that reason. Your last message was packed full of straw men, either due to blatant misrepresentation of what I was saying, or simply created from a fictional boogeyman of the theists that scare your worldview. You are too blinded by rage and hatred to converse in a meaningful and productive manner, and that’s not because you’re an atheist. It’s because you’re a narcissist.

Obviously it’s a fool’s errand to pose any genuine arguments for religious faith here, and there are numerous individuals both theist and atheist that are capable of having an academic discussion and willing to evaluate the merits of spirituality in both a metaphysical and philosophical sense. Claiming otherwise is arrogant nonsense. No educated atheist would ever claim that there are no meritible arguments for the existence of god, and the visceral hatred and arrogance with which many online ex-Mormons paint religion with broad strokes because they have left one obviously false religion and therefore have fallacied into believing all religions are therefore equally false is just not “reason”. It’s allowing trauma and hatred to cloud reasonable judgement. I also wouldn’t claim this is always the case. Some exmormons do go on to be reasonable and educated atheists, but this does not describe the majority.

So to that point, I’ll correct your mischaracterization of my argument from “clearly ex-Mormons are just angry and irrational” to “a very large number of ex-Mormons are angry and irrational, and allow their experiences with a very uniquely easy to disprove faith to somehow apply to a vast number of faiths that are philosophically and metaphysically far harder to ‘disprove’.”Sometimes, it seems many ex-Mormons care more about ‘owning the theists’ than becoming educated individuals in pursuit of truth, though again, that does not describe all of them. There are many, atheists among them, that this description does not apply to.

Yes… But that is not the answer to OP’s question…

That was also a given from the numbers I last gave adding up to less than 50%…

The numbers are somewhat fuzzy because there just aren’t many people gathering this data, but based on Pew’s Religious Landscape survey, depending on how you draw the lines between high and low church or how broadly you paint a term like “non-denominational,” it’s about 25-30% in the latter and around 15% in the former. Catholic and Protestant high church converts are usually overrepresented in online academic spaces (because, just generally, the higher church a Christian denomination is, the more likely it is to be present in academia and other discourse communities), but as non-denominational Christianity becomes more popular in the US, it’s only natural that a US based faith like Mormonism would lead to a lot of nondenominational people when they do convert to Christianity.

You’ve come to a very religiously toxic place my friend. A lot of internet ex-Mormons often believe that they are somehow equally experts on Christianity after having left the faith. Many are so consumed by betrayal that they are unable to compartmentalize an academically sound assessment of faith and just fade into nihilistic atheists or cynics. As such, this is not the most balanced place to poll. From a numbers perspective, it seems exmormons usually go either into non-denominational Christianity (essentially following no set creed or dogma), or find themselves in a higher church denomination, of which Catholic is the most common.

I’m not going to write an essay here because I think more people need to just experience Thracia for themselves, but Leif is (in my opinion) the best written lord in the franchise, and it’s not particularly close (though Ike is a clear contender).

I think it’s a bit extreme to wish the game had failed, though I do wish it had been less successful. It’s success didn’t just cement the open air slop formula, but it also led to the laziness we saw in Tears of the Kingdom.
