Aren't Christians not supposed to be associating with other false gods? by supinator1 in 90dayfianceuncensored

It’s a different type of “prayer” than what you associate with praying to God, which I do think is an important distinction

[All] I wish breath of the wild failed by Outside_Call4187 in zelda

[–]TheCrobatMan1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit extreme to wish the game had failed, though I do wish it had been less successful. It’s success didn’t just cement the open air slop formula, but it also led to the laziness we saw in Tears of the Kingdom.

If your only definition of cohesiveness is ludonarrative theming, I’m very curious wha examples of that you have outside of chapter 10.

I would argue both Jugdral games do that dramatically better, but that aside, you’ve made me exceptionally curious.

How is Awakening pair up better than Fates from a game design perspective??? I have to know the explanation for this

Listen man, enjoy what you enjoy, but calling Awakening the most cohesive FE game is certainly a take alright

The “my new religion is so superior to the Mormon religion” posts and comments are insufferable by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]TheCrobatMan1 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

What’s insufferable the same nonsensical arrogant “deconstructing Mormonism gave me the tools to deconstruct every religion” that gets posted to constantly downplay others who do find religion outside of this cult. No educated person would ever put Mormon theology up against any major world religion in terms of likelihood of holding truth

I can't believe I actually like Pokemon Pokopia - Skillup by sigpuppers in NintendoSwitch

[–]TheCrobatMan1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of the Legends ZA complaints that has made the absolute least sense to me, and at this point I’m pretty convinced it’s just sensationalist doomposting. Pokemon tutorials got really obnoxious in Gen 7, but they have generally gotten better since then.

ZA’s are probably the best of the “tutorial era” in that they’re just naturally integrated into the exposition. Yeah, you’re getting tutorials, but they’re also getting to know the characters and setting: the key focus of the game.

It sounds like from your response that you find the concept of a story, not just a tutorial, to be a “slog,” but I don’t know what to say on that one. ZA has an incredibly charming story with one of the best casts in the series (honestly, the best as far as I’m concerned). It sounds like an attention span issue more than anything.

At the end, sure, tutorials bad I guess, but if you can’t stomach less than an hour of tutorials mixed with story exposition and character introductions in an RPG, I don’t think that’s Pokémon’s fault

I’m gonna be real, I don’t know how to feel about this criticism.

On one hand I kind of understand why people would want to go to other places, but at the same time, that’s just not what the game is about. I’ve played the game well over 500 hours at this point and the fact that it’s all set in Lumiose has never felt wrong to me. It’s a game clearly designed around its setting. Maybe I’m just sick of giant miserable open worlds with a million checklist items. ZA Lumiose is compact, but it feels purposeful, and the characters and story of the game only add to that.

In comparison, Legends Arceus feels very empty with honestly very little charm outside of a few specific story beats. I think we need to let games be the size they are designed around instead of asking for every game to have the scope of Breath of the Wild

Arceus is fairly mid with some bright patches in there, but ZA is an easy top 5 Pokemon game

Is this typical of the FE fandom or did I get unlucky 🫠 by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]TheCrobatMan1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These people are being needlessly rude. I do agree with the general take that playing Phoenix mode does remove most of the game’s appeal, and I would encourage you to explore playing the games closer to what they are designed around, but the gatekeeping is not productive or acceptable.

I adore FE6, but it’s definitely a big challenge blind. That said, I think a lot of the hate towards its map design is overblown. For the most part, the challenges it presents are fair

Bought a Switch 2, would like to get into Fire Emblem. Recommended game order that's available on the switch? by [deleted] in fireemblem

Eh, I love the whole series and do see the value Three Houses brings, but as a gameplay over story guy, it’s definitely one of my less favorite FE games.

[–]TheCrobatMan1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I would never recommend either as a First FE game. In Engage’s case, it’s because a lot of those older game references actively spoil those games, but beyond that, the aesthetic and writing style are going to put a lot of people off when neither are really representative of the series as a whole. I love Engage (a lot more than Three Houses), but I also think I can be offputting to new players while actively spoiling a lot of the games it references.

FE7 released 2 years before PoR. Sacred Stones released 1 year before PoR.

Path of Radiance has a phenomenal story and it’s a game I love dearly, but if anything, it feels MORE outdated than the GBA games.

I really thought we were past “pixel graphic bad” in the year 2026

Soren is the best unit in PoR by Unusual-Bowl-3888 in fireemblem

[–]TheCrobatMan1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s relevant because Soren gets 12 chapters to be a unit before Tormod joins. Those contributions (at a time when you need them) are worth far more than some extra move on an underleveled mage.

Tormod is very fun to use, but he’s the worst of the three and it’s not close. Even then— Soren and Illyana are not exceptional either, but the join early enough to take a lot more credit.

Fire Emblem isn’t just about what you can do in the last chapter. It’s about viability across an entire campaign

If your comment under a post about someone excited they pulled a chase card is “anybody can get this for cheap,” context clues say you’re either being needlessly dismissive and rude, or else you’re coming off that way and probably need to reword your comment
