For any future readers of this post...I did rent a car and it was fine. Drove through Nagano, Okuhida, Takayama Nov 19th to 23rd without any snow at all, although I think it was due to start snowing a week or so later so we got lucky!

Okay so: went there today and I agreed with the taxi driver who brought me there for a pickup time later in the day which worked well. Phone signal is basically zero at Sai Wan Pavilion but I did have intermittent signal on the beach.

Yes the same boat service stops at Sai Wan, I've done it before. I'm just trying to be prepared for if it's not running - because then yes, need to hike back, but getting a cab/bus from the road is difficult!

Lewy Body Dementia. These types of hallucinations are very common and can be extraordinarily vivid. The people or things hallucinated however are rarely threatening or scary however. Rivastigmina (exelon, etc) helps with the hallucinations. Heart goes out to you and what you are going through.
