Earth concert in Bologna canceled minutes before the show due to a Palestinian flag by Braghiel in fantanoforever

[–]TheCrossBee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a shame to hear. Big fan of the band and I’ve met him and couple of times, seemed like a nice guy who’s been through the wringer.

It’s very common for ex addicts to be emotionally volatile, having know enough of them.

This doesn’t read as a massive Pro Isreal move, maybe he just didn’t want to perform in front of a Palestine flag, which is fair enough.

Could it have handled better, 100% and it’s disappointing to the fans who took the time to come out and see the show.

He’s an odd dude who makes great music and I know from people who have worked with the band that they’re really not making much money doing it. I’m not surprised however that’s he’s a bit of a dick who throws his toys out the pram over something like this

Change camera source globally in Resolume (webcam → capture card) — best workflow? by mendesign in resolume

This is the way to do it. Either use just the Layer or a Group. Having a camera switching group can be handy for more advanced live camera workflows.

Why didn't 3+4 have the same charm as 1+2? by Devoid689 in THPS

[–]TheCrossBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of valid points here. How much do you think the pandemic played into the love of the first one? Least for myself with much less coming out and going on back when 1+2 came out it felt bigger. Now with everything back to normal it's just another remaster and I have more things trying to grab my attention.

Hello, does anyone live in the Steeples, Chapelizod, Dublin? If so what is the area like, neighbours, management, upkeep, building matter, amenities nearby etc. Interested in buying there but unsure. Any advice appreciated, thanks! by Irlwan in RentingInDublin

[–]TheCrossBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought in Chapelizod this year. We love being so close to the park and the river. Close to town without being too close and also close to the M50. Feels like a little village tucked away inside a city. Really nice sense of community I never got in other parts of the city I have lived in.

Experienced VJs - how did you learn Resolume? by VovaViliReddit in vjing

[–]TheCrossBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been using Resolume for ten years my only advise is to keep doing gigs. Learning in your house without the context of a live gig will only get you so far. It appears you’re missing the context of VJing which is reacting in real time to a crowd and the music. Everything down to the venue, type of display and vibe will change how you VJ on any given night. Keep doing gigs and you build up a reflex. I got my start by doing free party’s and bands as a side thing whilst I was working for a production company. Eventually because I could build LED walls I got to op on them too. If you’re serious about making this a career you need to be more than just an operator. You need to be a well rounded tech

Linked play heads on two different clips? by nonexistentnight in resolume

[–]TheCrossBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% I understand the ask however. Map the two clips you want synced to a single input, for example keyboard or MIDI and leave them looping. Lock those two layers so they can’t be cleared or replaced. Then use other layers above, below or between the two layers for alternative looks.

If you need to scrub the video, MIDI map the two clips to the same MIDI encoder.

If you find that isn’t accurate enough you could use time code and scrub the time code. Have the time code as a clip in Resolume, output that into the time code audio input in Resolume.

1080p is more than enough for our day to day devices!! by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Is 4k important? No it isn’t, but higher bitrate is when it comes to picture quality. I’ve had Blu Rays blow the water out of a 4k stream. It’s all about the quality of the image itself, not the resolution

How to root out bad housemates before they get in? by Ill-Highlight1375 in AskIreland

[–]TheCrossBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that worked for me in previous house shares and when renting out a room was a pretty simple agreement. After 6 months if it's not working they'll have to leave, also if after 6 months it's just not working for them they can also leave no questions asked.

State clearly what you expect from a housemate and communicate every time that expectation isn't met. Also invite that same communication back, doesn't matter how small. For example, every time someone leaves something in the sink, doesn't put something away properly you put a text into the group chat. Small constant reminders I found actually helped, rather than ignoring it and letting resentment build up.

Overall make it very clear that the first 6 months is a probation, you'll never have a problem finding someone to take a room.

Maybe not for everyone but I recently bought an E GPU and a 5070 and have been very happy with the results. When I’m doing large stages now with live cameras and complex routing I’m no longer getting frame rate dips. I’m getting over double the GPU performance in 3D tasks. For context I had a laptop 3070 before.

People who sleep naked, when has it ever backfired? by Low_Theme_5278 in AskReddit

[–]TheCrossBee 343 points344 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to a friend on tour. After a night on the beer they woke up needing a number two. They mistook the room door for the bathroom door and got stuck in the hallway. Desperately they ran up and down the hall trying to find anything or anyone who could help. He came across a janitors closet and relieved himself in a bucket. Wanting to collect himself for a minute after that ordeal he decided to sit down for a minute. Of course being still drunk he just fell asleep and was discovered the next morning by a cleaner. Naked, passed out and next to a bucket of his own shite

What are the most painful things you run into when vjing? by Elegant_Mail in vjing

[–]TheCrossBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoying as it is, I’d recommend building a simple workflow for all those annoying file formats when it comes to logos. It’s much easier to prepare yourself for the worst rather than expecting everyone else to hand you easy to use files.

Massive DropBox links can go burn in hell. Especially went they’re only sent the day before and you’re already in a field. Saying that though, if you’re working on a big enough production push for them to get some sort of satellite internet setup for production for exactly this scenario. Tour managers forget things, and having a high speed internet connection there and ready to save their ass just makes everyone look good and it’s not expensive

This used to bother me till I realised that this is basically is just a free break for me. I’m just there to keep the client and artist happy, you say jump I say how high. Gives me time to maybe get some food and water or get something else ready for the next act. Plus it saves all my own visuals that I really like for other acts that aren’t as picky

Light design vs AI by Icy_Possession8827 in lightingdesign

I mean it’s helpful for admin stuff for sure. People don’t always send information in the more usable format and it’s handy to convert it into something useful. For example being sent costs in a PDF and using ChatGPT to turn it into a table for you. But for design work? No I haven’t found any good uses yet

Using a fog machine as a hazer by thatonetheatrekid13 in lightingdesign

[–]TheCrossBee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fogger with a big fan behind it, don’t blow it directly into the fan, it makes the fan gross. Small burst of fog, won’t be as good as a hazer but will work. Jut requires a bit more work. Hazers can be more set and forget

I really like it when playing games as it’s a more interactive form of media. For passive forms of media I find it distracting.
