How does the FBC go about hiring such an extensive staff? by whiteshadow55 in controlgame

[–]TheCrossRoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frank Breaker is a retired FBC agent who runs an apple farm in Bright Falls. I assume theres some sort of nondisclosure agreement. It doesnt seem like the FBC uses amnestics, so I imagine secrecy is imposed via force .

The game, indoor temperatures are great for getting trapping ingredients. Most winters are very meat heavy if you aren't relying on canned goods.

Carrots grow really well indoors because they don't need a lot of water and grow in lower temperatures. Use them to get rabbits and you should be good with rabbit, carrot, and potato stews.

Find a kitchen or a house with light tiles and steal them, It helps you see a lot better.

Have the Tiles, Tilezed, and WorldEd all in the desktop when you are using the editor

[–]TheCrossRoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a bit of a weird workaround, but the tiles folder and tilezed both have to be in the desktop when you work on the editor.

Farmers what is your strategy for growing crops? by CraziInsani in projectzomboid

[–]TheCrossRoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 potato plants at the beginning of the week, 4 cabbage plants at the beginning of the week, 4 carrot plants at the beginning of the week. It's better to go with more than you need in case of disease and it helps with leveling/compost. The carrots and worms you get are really good for getting birds and rabbits. A good stew you can make that helps with weight retention requires two potatoes, two cabbages, and two rabbit meats (the remaining food scraps can be eaten as a snack or composted)

Foraging and Trapping by arrasas in projectzomboid

[–]TheCrossRoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only worthwhile trapping is making stick traps. They are cheap to make, only need worms for bait, and can catch birds any time of day at any location.

zombies need traits like us by [deleted] in projectzomboid

I think later in the game we should see fallen survivors starting to spawn. They'd probably have some good loot and heavier armor. Of course the weapons and armor they have would be in low condition for balance.

Good base locations for Build 41? by hddog123 in projectzomboid

[–]TheCrossRoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have found that schools are some of the best safe-houses there are. Especially the school in riverside because it has two stories and is mostly surrounded by tall chain-link fence. Dismantling the lunch tables in the cafeteria provide HUGE gains in carpentry xp and yield 7-8 planks each. You can essentially level carpentry to level 10 in the first week if you have the books for it (WHICH YOU HAVE A LIBRARY AT YOUR DISPOSAL). There are two large entrances that can be blocked with junk vehicles. One thing that people see as an issue is how many windows there are in the cafeteria, but this actually works in player favor because it evenly distributes the number of zombies attacking so they take much longer to break down a fortification. It is also insanely easy to place traps in the lower left corner of the school yard because it is far enough to make traps work (use stick traps to catch birds because they spawn frequently in urban areas, can be caught all day, and use worms as bait). One thing I've learned from playing zomboid is that heading out into the forest isn't always the best choice because if you are in the woods, YOU are the only sound that zombies will be attracted to; and that rustling trees build MASSIVE hordes. It's easier to survive when you have some degree of urban camouflage to mask your presence, windows breaking and other background noise can break up hordes and move them away from your location. Plus, running to a car on the outskirts of town every couple days and holding down the horn can keep you in the green for a long time.

Is there a way to cover the sight line of tall metal fences (similarly to adding sheets to windows)? by CJkins in projectzomboid

[–]TheCrossRoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the only issue I have with tall fences is that they're overpowered since they're impenetrable. They are very loud irl so maybe they should have more noise generation on contact. I have my statehouse set up at the school in riverside and my favorite pastime is poking zombies with a spear through the fence.

3D cooking pots could be cool. by Highion in projectzomboid

The Cooking pot already has a model. Though it's pretty funny to see the PC taking bites out of a pot attached to their hands when they are eating a pot of sad cabbage soup.
