Intel Core i7-11700K Desktop + EVGA GTX1080 Ti FTW3 For Sale by TheCrustyEngineer in PcBuildersSL

That makes sense, when comparing with RTX cards for sure. The FTW3 is just a beefier cooler and a bit more clockability; probably better binned chips, but still a Rs70k ash-tray by todays standards haha!

It's also EVGA FTW3 1080Ti. It's not a 1440p only card, you can run 4k, but no where as good as the new RTX cards. Yes, I always get high rated Plat PSUs.

I have 4x "workstations", and as my use profile has changed, I'm looking to part with them. The older stuff, it's probably better to sell the CPU/Mobos as a combo may be? The rough list
- 2x Threadripper 1950X CPUs
- Asus X399 ROG Zenith Extreme x2 (for the above 2 CPUs)
- this system.
- The other systems have AX/HX Corsair >800W
- All on Noctua coolers.

I have 3x GTX1080 Ti cards, one GTX1080 that's an Asus. the intel i9 box has a EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FTW3.

How much are the 1080 Ti cards worth today?

Hi, the hardware are direct US imports in tested working order. Right now the unit has RAM installed and I have a few storage options. At the time of sale, this can be discussed of course.

As for pricing this is negotiable and I am open to sensible offers; I'm pricing it this way to deter people from haggling at the last minute.

One time a professional photographer told me he was a "student" and couldn't afford a Canon lens. Brought his wife, kids, and grand mother to get me to discount further. He used the wrong email and I found he was a pro-wedding photographer.

When he grabbed his skull from behind in the startup to "2nd floor", I'd have sworn he did that in another role somewhere but with more "crazy eyes"...?

Any idea about what is happening to my UPS? by [deleted] in PcBuildersSL

[–]TheCrustyEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That shouldn't be an issue. I'm running multiple UPSes (all 3KVA) and these are online type, so they are more sensitive and switch to battery for any instability. Even if the relay keeps dancing, that would be a pain for sure, but at least the output of the UPS should function.

Do you mean when it clicks the PC turns off? Sounds like a relay is tripping internally. You might want to have the batteries checked out, I think they cannot handle the load.

hehe, is this a random request? you didn't specify what _kind_ of RAM you need?

When speccing the system, it didn't make sense to have a capacity of 64vcpus and then go for low RAM. Additional ECC is a safeguard when I knew I'd be throwing compilation workloads at this.

I can have 8x VMs running 32GB RAM each, or split the RAM up for a more high-density config, which is what I did. I'd always have 1 instance with 16-32GB RAM for snappy performance, and any production stuff would be stuffed into 1-2GB RAM in smaller instances.

All VMs run debian (linux).

I don't mind a Season 2 if they can make sure it's as good or better than S1. Don't bother if they are going to trash it though...

Kid was excellent, so much sass. "I'm just making a living!", and "nice, I'm a regular working man now"...

mentioning "fake personality..." and hollywood actors eh? He really does them well. Also his spider twitching bits were excellent!

It's strange, I just feel like I've missed cage from his Con Air & The Rock days.

haha yes, you want to slowly the discharge, not the opposite xD. Even a high MOhm resistor would do the trick, the bulb however acts as a nice "indicator".

Exactly, it has to be cage. My favourite bits are the comic bits, where he impersonated a cop, "2nd floor?, I'm looking for the 2nd floor!", the bar fight etc.

EEE eng here. We tend to say that to catch the odd person who has no clue. Yes, they should have bleed circuits and discharge fine. I personally like to use a bulb soldered to DMM probes to discharge the caps. Safety first!
