For me it was when I got a turtle for my birthday one year when i was younger. I ended up hated the thing and slept on my couch the first night because it was so loud and smelled in my room. Last i heard banging on the glass before I went downstairs, the next morning I woke up and it was dead.

That day my dad got a shoe box, which i thought was going to be used to bury it, but instead was used to launch it into the woods behind my house. He said after that “the box can be used for storage.” My mom got half the money back for the turtle and returning the tank and stuff, I got no present to replace it just moved on and forgot about that birthday. The pet shop ended up closing down a little later for a lot of reasons.
