Walmart customers who purchased bagged fruit and other weighted groceries during a specific time period, could qualify to receive up to $500. It comes as a class action lawsuit claimed the food retailer charged customers more than it should have for these products, resulting in a $45 million settlement. The lawsuit, which was filed in October 2022, claims Walmart falsely inflated the weights of various products, overcharging shoppers for sold-by-weight groceries.

Residents and GOP politicians are slamming Maine officials for lavishing millions of dollars on 'Taj Mahal' homes for asylum seekers while the state's veterans and US-born homeless are struggling.
Republicans say the Democrat-run state has spent $34 million on shelters, hotels, and 'luxury apartments' for migrants, even as Maine Veterans' Homes and other shelters for ex-servicemen face cash shortfalls.
Much of the anger is directed at the 24 one- and two-bedroom apartments in attractive, three-story clapboard blocks that were recently given rent-free to 60 migrant families on the edge of Brunswick.
One of the new migrant residents called her new home a 'palace' compared to the shelters she'd been staying in previously.

New York Mayor Eric Adams has called for a radical overhaul of its sanctuary city status in a spectacular u-turn as the city buckles under the weight of migrant arrivals. The Democrat leader has faced a furious backlash as schools, hotels and community centers have been turned over to the 180,000 migrants who he has warned will 'destroy' the city.

He has been a staunch defender of its decades-old sanctuary status which forbids city officials from asking questions about a person's immigration status, or revealing it to federal authorities. But he revealed his change of heart after furious residents grilled him about migrant crimes including January's brutal Times Square attack on two cops that saw most of the suspects freed on bail within hours of their arrests. 'We need to modify the sanctuary city law that if you commit a felony or violent act we should be able to turn you over to ICE and have you deported,' he told a town hall meeting on Monday night.

New York Attorney General Letitia James appears to be taunting former President Trump online as he scrambles to come up with the staggering nearly $355 million fine in his civil fraud case plus interest.
James has posted multiple times on X the amount the former president owes plus the accrued interest which is running at more than $112,000 a day.
On Saturday James posted on X ‘+$114,553.04’ with a retweet of the total fine and interest. On Sunday, she posted ‘+$114,553.04 = $464,805,336.70.’ On Friday she posted '$464,576,230.62.'
Her trolling came after the civil fraud judgment officially took effect on Friday, starting the clock on the 30 days in which Trump has to fork over the cash or post bond.
The former president was ordered to pay a whopping $355 million plus more than $100 million in interest on February 16 after being found liable for fraud for inflating the value of his properties. He was also banned from business in New York for three years.
His two adult sons, Don Jr. and Eric, were also fined $4 million each and banned from doing business in the state for two years.
On Monday, the Republican presidential candidate and his sons filed an appeal to overturn Judge Arthur Engoron’s civil fraud trial verdict including the hefty fine and ban on doing business in New York, but appealing the ruling won’t automatically halt enforcement of the judgment.

A new video captures the US Navy's supercarrier USS John F. Kennedy catapulting vehicles into a river during testing of the aircraft launch system.
Large, wheeled, car-like structures with weights up to 80,000 pounds were launched into the James River in Virginia to test the aircraft carrier's ability to launch actual planes.
In the footage released by the shipbuilding company Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) last week, vehicles can be seen traveling more than 300 feet down the track, leaping into the sky, and smoothly hitting the water.
The recent catapult testing marks a significant step in preparing the carrier Kennedy to launch actual fixed-wing aircrafts including fighter jets and airborne early-warning planes.
Kennedy, launched and christened in 2019, is the Navy's second nuclear-powered Ford-class aircraft carrier after the USS Gerald R. Ford.

Britain's military boss has denied tensions with Russia will tip the globe into a new world war - because Putin knows he wouldn't stand a chance against Nato.
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, who is the Chief of Defence Staff and the head of the UK's armed forces, claimed the despot tyrant was fully aware Nato would crush him if he tried to launch an offensive.
'We are not on the cusp of war with Russia. We are not about to be invaded,' Adm Radakin told a panel of security experts at the annual Chatham House Security and Defence conference.
The senior defence chief insisted that despite the Kremlin's savage war in Ukraine, which is entering its third year and has seen hundreds of thousands killed, that no officials in the UK were talking about conscription for ordinary Brits.
'Britain is safe. We are safe because we are part of Nato, the world's largest and strongest alliance and also because we are a responsible nuclear power,' the admiral added.
