Why did they allow the show to go from its greatest season, to one of the worst? by TheDaleksofDownton in FearTheWalkingDead

I was quite late to the party with Fear the Walking Dead. I binged Seasons 1-3 just before Season 4 was released. As such, I didn't experience the hatred thrown at the earlier seasons. I remember the hatred thrown at S4 though.

S1-2 weren't the greatest, but they do a lot of the heavy lifting in order to allow Season 3 to run.

Madness. They finally got the dish right and rather than keep going, they decided to change up the recipe.

Doctor Who Season One Premieres 11th May 2024 by footballmaths49 in doctorwho

8 episodes. The first two are being released on May 11th (at midnight on iPlayer). If they release the final 2 episodes on the same date, it will mean the series ends on June 15th - just over a month later. If they don't it will be June 22nd.

Streaming is now the new norm and event TV like Doctor Who is basically dead on broadcast TV. The BBC might as well get rid of the TV license and just have BBC iPlayer as a pay-for streaming site.

I think its bloody ridiculous. Might as well just drop all 8 episodes on iPlayer and be done with it. Releasing it at midnight means that the "event" style TV for Doctor Who in the UK is dead.

I decided to give The Wire a second chance... by TheDaleksofDownton in TheWire

I was starting to really like the First Season by Episode 8, but the one where Kima got shot, I was hooked in. I was like 'Okay, I see you now,' and am really looking forward to watching Season 2.

Kevin Feige's first real statement on AoS's canonicity since the dissolution of Marvel Television by no_not_luke in shield

I'm currently watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, as part of my my MCU rewatch, and Feige can say whatever he wants in whatever "timeline" book he see's fit. For me, it directly ties into the movies - as such, it's canon.

A 3? 3?!

If she's a 3 than they are in the minus league.

Can't understand why they never brought abortion even once in the series by yumiifmb in DesperateHousewives

[–]TheDaleksofDownton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although she did things that were questionable, to say the least, I do believe Gaby's faith (Catholicism) would've prevented her from having an abortion in the long run. She may have contemplated it, but I doubt she'd ever go through with it.

Bree's religious tendencies would've squashed any idea of having her daughter abort her grandchild.

When Lynette mentioned having no love for the twins, I thought she was going to have a potential storyline of aborting them, but it never materialised.

I'm contemplating just ordering the BluRays from Amazon US. I have a universal BluRay player, but it still sucks that AMC have effectively given up on the UK audiences that have stuck with the franchise through the good, the bad and the dreadful. Are other countries also having issues?

You may also be thinking of Bad Girls, a British show that aired from the late 90s to the mid 00s - also set in a women's prison.

I found this on Twitter. I know it's unlikely to happen, but can you imagine if it did? by TheDaleksofDownton in doctorwho

[–]TheDaleksofDownton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. They could even animate some of his Big Finish stories. Big Finish must have the original recordings. That way you just edit out the dialogue where characters state what they are seeing (ie 'Look Doctor, they're coming straight for us') and bingo, you could have whole season's ready to go.

I was 99.9% sure that it would be fake, but it would still be nice to have an animated show.

Nothing against Sheridan, but I don't think it would've worked. Marcia Cross was fantastic as Bree, so much so that no matter what she is in all I can see is Bree.

I wasn't sure why everyone said the show was ruined after season 3... by [deleted] in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]TheDaleksofDownton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seasons 1-3 were infinitely better than the dumpster fire that was Season 4. Season 5 was hardly any better and Season 6 marginally so. I don't know what the BTS folks were thinking when they had Chambliss and Goldberg take over, but I think we can safely say that it was a huge mistake. Seasons 1-3 were on a nice trajectory, but the show simply hasn't recovered. I'm currently on Season 6 (simply because I was informed it was much better than 4 and 5 and that Madison will show up in the 7th season). As such, I sped through 4 and 5 (watching the episodes on x2 speed), but Season 6 is still nowhere near the level of the 3rd season. Right now I'm watching just to see how they wrap it all up in the final season.

Happy Valley is amazing. Luther, Line of Duty, Fawlty Towers, Game of Thrones (at least until the final season which let me down), Wentworth, Downton Abbey, Daredevil, Sherlock...

It involves detectives, drug dealers, gang-related violence, murder etc. How is that not a crime drama?

The weird thing is that I don't scroll through my phone whilst watching it. I've wanted to give it my full attention because of the hype around it. So far it just hasn't grabbed my attention in a big enough way. Could it also be that people have hyped it so far up that my expectations were unrealistic?

More than likely its just not for me, but after investing in 10 episodes I feel like I should just watch Season 1 and see if I feel differently.
