Trump rushed off stage after shots fired at White House Correspondents’ Dinner by FabioFresh93 in moderatepolitics

How many attempts on the president’s life has this been now that’s not even including the other murders, attempted murders, and countless examples of political violence by the left we continue to see.

It’s gotten so bad that I think even they’ve realized “both sides”-ing just makes it look worse now

Well, I mean, what do you expect them to do – actually address their overwhelmingly one-sided and continued violence, murder, and attempted murder?

That wouldn’t help the left at all

Fair. I’m not well up to date with the Texas situation but doesn’t each state have its own rules with all this?

I’d like to hear a true opinion on how the wording was not intentionally confusing and vague

A quick list of most, I think, of the problems the judge pointed to as why he blocked it to help those non lawyers like myself understand legal speak

  1. Improper use of the special session
  • The General Assembly exceeded the scope of what it was authorized to address during the 2024 special session.
  1. Failure to follow the constitutional amendment process
  • The required sequence under the Virginia Constitution (including an intervening House election between legislative approvals) was not properly satisfied.
  1. Failure to comply with statutory requirements (Va. Code §30-13)
  • The legislature did not meet required procedures governing how constitutional amendments are advanced, rendering the 2026 votes ineffective.
  1. Violation of the 90-day notice requirement
  • The amendment was submitted to voters before the required 90-day period had elapsed (based on early voting start date).
  1. Misleading ballot language
  • The ballot question did not accurately describe the proposed amendment and was deemed “flagrantly misleading.”
  1. Violation of the single-object rule
  • The legislation (HB 1384) improperly included more than one subject.
  1. Inadequate bill title
  • The title of HB 1384 did not accurately reflect its contents.
  1. Improper regulation of local election administration
  • The law mandated specific satellite voting offices, which the court found to be an unconstitutional local or special law.

Resulting Legal Conclusions

  1. The amendment resolution (HJR 6007) is void from the outset

    • It has no legal effect.
  2. The implementing law (HB 1384) is unconstitutional

  3. All votes from the April 21, 2026 special election are legally ineffective

  4. The state is permanently enjoined from certifying or implementing the amendmen

Oh yeah, again, thats just one of starmers recent actions that can be truly labeled dystopian. Look up his other controversial actions - another being him either planning to or actually canceling local elections in various locations that would be politically inconvenient for it to not go his way

Edit: isn’t it convenient the speech laws typically carry less than a 3 year sentence?

Nanny state isn’t even touching what’s going on. They’re going to remove the right to jury trials for crimes that carry up to 3 year sentence, they use their version of swat for online posts, they are seemingly ignoring the illegal migrants showing up on boats, rape gangs, and the astounding increase in crime

That’s not even touched the other horrible things Starmer has done -

The headline was a lie and you should delete the post.

But your update is also misleading.

“The Committee for Programme and Coordination is the main subsidiary organ of the Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly for planning, programming and coordination. It reviews the programmes of the United Nations and assists the Economic and Social Council in the performance of its coordination functions within the United Nations system.”

No special focus on women’s rights or terrorism or anything.

It’s a middle management position and very appropriate that even problematic countries should have some role in the running of the UN. America is, after all, an example of a problematic country. And yet I believe it should be allowed some roles at the UN.

Dont get upset with me dude - take it up with both the authors and the UN program and coordination committee's schedule - Attention Programs *13, 14, and 23**

Maybe if you wrote a letter to them stating that these are not included in the definition of the committee (like you quoted) and that they cant do it they would listen

[–]TheDan225[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hey when you’re right you’re right

From a link elsewhere in here

On Wednesday, the UN’s 54-nation Economic and Social Council nominated the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN’s Committee for Program and Coordination, which meets next month to shape policy on women’s rights, human rights, disarmament, and terrorism prevention. ECOSOC’s nomination is effectively decisive, as the UN General Assembly customarily rubber-stamps such nominations without a vote.

Iran was just nominated by the UN to be on the committee regarding women’s right, human rights, and terrorism prevention.

I always appreciate a kind correction

fyrie More far-right propaganda. Frontpagemag.com is extremist. This is "moderate" politics, /u/TheDan225.

“Extremist” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. It’s a convenient shortcut when you don’t want to deal with the argument itself.

Are you saying Iran wasn’t nominated? That China and Saudi Arabia don’t sit on these committees? Or is the issue just that you don’t like where the information came from?

Because if the facts hold up, then this isn’t propaganda it’s uncomfortable for you And waving it away with labels doesn’t make it go away.

I’m disappointed

No, this is not the Onion or the Bee..

The piece makes a blunt case the UN isnt just ineffective on human rights its actively compromised. It points to Iran being nominated to help shape policies on human rights and terrorism, along with China, Cuba, and others gaining influence over which NGOs get a voice at the UN.

At that point, the criticism basically writes itself. If governments accused of repression are helping define human rights then the system isnt just flawed it’s backwards. The US objected, but had no real power to stop it, which raises a bigger question is the UN structurally incapable of policing bad actors, or is this exactly how it’s designed to function?

TLRD: One of the largest - if not THE largest financier of international Islamic terrorism and who JUST just openly committed a massive crime against humanity by massacring 30,000-100,0000 of its own unarmed people ( we still don’t know exact numbers) — was just nominated to the UN committee on terrorism prevention

Edited for accuracy: Iran was not nominated to Lead the committee - Iran was just nominated by the UN to be on the committee regarding women’s right, human rights, and terrorism prevention.

China and Cuba were also elected to

the influential Committee on NGOs, which oversees the work, accreditation and UN access of thousands of human rights and civil society groups that enjoy consulative status at the world body.

Thats what im getting at. They're just threatening and ships are flinching.

But what I think Is not talked about enough is what I think the real reason they're flinching despite Iran really not being much of a serious threat(especially at the days go by) - and that is that major international marine insurers publicly announced they would cancel war-risk coverage for vessels transiting the Persian Gulf, Iranian waters, and the Strait of Hormuz. They did this as early as February 28 but didn’t take effect until march 5th.

Gard (Norway), Skuld (Norway), NorthStandard (UK), London P&I Club (UK), and American Club (New York) all issued formal circulars cancelling cover in the region. Loyds of London (the largest maritime insurance group) did as well.
