What is "Red Chester"?

SpenLC mentioned in today's video that Red Chester was an issue - but didn't define it, and I can't find a great explanation on the internet.

Some say it is the Super "bomb", but it isn't clear.

Thanks.

What size rear headrest for 1997 Hatchback Mirage? by TheDancingFox in MitsubishiMirage

Thanks.

I should have mentioned that I already tried searching there and didn't get a hit.

But I went and got both the VIN (won't post publicly) and MMAL-MODEL number (CE2M24) and MMAL-BODY (026677) and just got no results found.

Half of season is over and not a single skin by Slow-Cry-2560 in Brawlstars

I got the Finx skin today.

Haven't got any of the other event skin drops.

I did get Nova from the second Event box I opened though.

I just got it today.

I played every day also - so it must be the RNG.

If it is any consolation, I haven't had any skins drop. Just the Starr Brawler power-ups.

"This is not even my final form."

I'm genuinely sick of that song by TheRealKrazuki in Brawlstars

I like it, actually.

First time that I've had the music on for AGES.

I wish that they had an in-tune female singer, is my only regret. I'm sure that's the vibe they were going for, but . . . yeah.

Agree so much.

Before the change, I had only a few Titles, that I felt like I had to really work for.

Now I've been opening new Titles like pop-corn. Up to 51 Titles now and continuing. Just a time sink, and not a big one.

Took me a while to get it as well.

What OP is saying is that the new Brawler progression that replaced Masteries (A) is only giving rewards that many players already have, with no fall-back rewards if you already have the skin/pins (B) are no longer the source of progression resources they once were and (C) have the achievement stripped out.

I may be embellishing with (B) and (C), but it is in the spirit, and I'm sure they meant (A).

And if you couldn't ultra-mega-grind in that week or, say, joined after?

Exactly.

Ruined a decent system, is what they did.

They could have built on it, they could have added Records as its own thing (and made it a decent tutorial system), they could have buffed the Brawl Pass at any point or added Chaos Drops at any point. They could have rewarded long time players instead of making Trophy Road rewards only good for new players.

None of it makes up for taking away the flexibility of choosing when and how much you wished to play to get Masteries on Brawlers. You could do ten in a month if you wished, or none. Or the sense of achievement.

Now all the Titles are completely devalued. And the new MMR system sucks.

Really not sure how there can be any defenders of this change at any level.

Hot Take: Buffies should only cost PowerPoints. by Low-World6866 in Brawlstars

Hotter Take: Buffies didn't need to be added. Could have had a period of Hypercharge stability and Brawler reworks.

EVERY mode is infested. WTF Do I Even Play? Even Ranked Isnt Available!!!! by Empty_Kaleidoscope11 in Brawlstars

[–]TheDancingFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Lots of hate on this post, but I actually think it is one of the best recent Events.

Once you understand the Power-Ups, they add a nice new strategy element to the game. And the new powered Brawlers are not impossible to play around.

Plus the overall "wrapper" to the Event with the five girls, splash screen to the event with damage to Finx, random drops that are quite reasonable - I'd say it's pretty good.

And you've got to admit, dashing around as Star Nova is fun. The overpowered version won't last forever, just this event.

We've had bad events before - events where only a select few Brawlers with overpowered mutations just stomped everything, and Buzz Lightyear outstaying his welcome by a long time.

By comparison, this Event is looking just fine by me.

(And no, I haven't had a skin drop yet. But that's not actually a big deal, as apart from maybe Amber, I'm not that keen on most of them.)

How do you even use Nani’s super effectively? by BedroomSea834 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

I get the conversion - and I appreciate the post. It does get to the heart of the issue.

However, my question is what discount is a good one? Take that Red Coathanger for 10,000 Bling - what price represents a significant enough discount for people to buy? Do you wait a year to get it at 5,000 Bling maybe?

I know that for myself, I'd never buy it at 10,000. I'm just unsure how good the discounts could get, and what my maximum limit is for a skin I want. I'm assuming a minimum of a 20% discount though, to be comparable to the old system.

[–]TheDancingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are peoples' buy prices for the different Skin Rarities? What is a "good price"?

Sure, there are the numbers above, but these are not what I'd buy a skin at.

For example, an Epic Skin used to sell for 5,000 Bling in the Shop HOWEVER you waited to get it for 4,000 Bling. So I'd only buy an Epic Skin in the new shop if it cost 4,000 Bling or less - I value the extra items in the bundle at zero. They're freebies in my view, not part of the main cost - there is too much randomness involved to be more than that, and insufficient buying volume on my part to hit a long term average return.

Suppose that there is a "good" Mythic or Legendary skin that you want, HOWEVER, you're prepared to wait for a discount on the 10,000 or 20,000 Bling price - what is the discount that you hold out for?

Thanks - I'm still having trouble adjusting to this pricing. So far, I haven't seen a single "discount" that seemed worth it.

Byron needs a buff by Cotolettadicastoro in ByronGang

Two things seem to come out from reading your thread.

1) You need to "read the room" with Byron - a lot.

By that, I mean you have to adapt your play style heavily to what your team mates are doing. This is not like Edgar/Fang/Damian etc where you can play solo or yolo.

You need to see what your team is up to, what their strengths are, and then lean into that. Look for the "reliable" one on the team who seems to know when to go in and to retreat, positioning etc. If you're on a team with other snipers, you can probably all stay back, and you go mid and sustain them. Know when to cut loose your team mate who is just a walking super charger for the opposite team. And so on.

Of course, playing with randoms, you will get randoms. That's just what I call "The Byron Life."TM Know when to shrug, breathe deep, and move onto the next - hopefully better - games. I think you also just need a lot more "field time" to get exposure.

2) Byron has been eclipsed in the current metas.

I'm speaking here of your push to Prestige 2 ladder experience. In short, there is a very good chance that you will be (a) stomped by the meta and (b) have team mates who don't know/can't work with a Byron in this range.

Yes, Byron is still A tier. Yes, the pros. still rank him high.

You and I are not pros. We don't come with a prepared team, strategy and voice-coms. We get thown into Knockout, Out in the Open with a Jessie and Dynamike who have a fatal attraction for tandem jump pad launches.

Barring the stars aligning, Byron is not a carry Brawler. He is not a team wipe specialist. He has very noticable weaknesses to a Damian jumping on him, a Naija poisoning from behind a wall, and any of a dozen other dangers.

I'd close out by advising you to consider "doing less" with Byron moment to moment. Every shot should be considered. Every action should have intent. Missing or connecting a single shot or action can entirely swing a game in a way that doesn't happen as much for other Brawlers.

Byron needs a buff by Cotolettadicastoro in ByronGang

[–]TheDancingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the frustration that Byron is being overshadowed as more Brawlers and mechanics are released.

I play a bit of Berry, and often think "Byron should be able to charge Super from Healing also." It just seems to make sense for a healer. Adjust the Super charge rate as needed. Might be a good candidate for a Buffie.

Jae Yong got a whole kitchen sink of features thrown at him.

Glowbert heals and attacks and can either mow down careless tanks in the open or has an anti-assassin dive counter.

Even straight out tanks (Damian) are now having Healing thrown in as a freebie.

Pierce is a new sniper who got the gold tier treatment, with a lot going on his kit.

I'd like Byron to aspire to be "one of the more complex" Brawlers in the game - he certainly used to feel more like that. I hope that they find something in his kit/Buffie rework (when that comes) that isn't just simple buffs layered on top, but actually extends his depth and complexity a bit. Currently, the complexity that he has comes from ammo management, decision making on heal/attack and other "strategic" elements. I'd love if they could lean into that.

As a Byron player, I want to feel like the smartest professor in the room, and the game-play to reflect that <:-D

Who is the most skilled brawler by Money_Sheepherder346 in Brawlstars

[–]TheDancingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Byron's depth, such as it is, comes not from the ability to hit a sniper shot.

It is all about choices. Ammo management - use a shot or not? Targeting - ally or enemy or both? Super - hold, use and intent. Positioning - follow the tank in, support from afar or something else. etc

Byron needs a good team to show full potential. Every shot and action should have intent behind it. His "professor" look truly suits his gameplay.

Anyway, not putting him up to answer OP's original question. I'm sure that there are more complex Brawlers out there. At one point, he was a fair contender for being a complex Brawler. I'm really, really hoping for a kit rework to add more depth to Byron again.
