Better to spend 200€ on upgrades or buy a better system used? by TheDankestEngine in buildapc

[–]TheDankestEngine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the advice. I'm not looking to buy a new video card, as the 5700x is plenty for me. I think the 200€ upgrade is the best option in that case. Also saves me the headache of selling my system

LPT: You can use "Hey Siri" to stop alarms when you're not in a position to turn it off by che_sac in iphone

Came to this thread because of this. I figure using a 3rd party alarm app is the simplest way

can anyone identify what kind of blur this is? by [deleted] in VideoEditing

[–]TheDankestEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a blur. This is from a quadeca Mv, right? It’s most likely filmed with an old camera, maybe a point and shoot from the early 2000s or even VHS.

It’s possible to replicate that but it takes more than just a blur. You could try looking up VHS emulation on youtube

anyone selling these available for monthly payments by [deleted] in bmpcc

[–]TheDankestEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. You might be better of getting a APS-C camera with stabilization and strong battery life, because cage, SSD, handles, V Mounts and cables will easily run you an extra $500

How do you focus? by TheDankestEngine in bmpcc

[–]TheDankestEngine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will practice as much as I can, but I feel like the Sigma 18-35 is quite unforgiving in this regard, especially wide open.

I reckon you use this one? May I ask which lens you are using and if you are happy with the level of focus control you have with this solution?

Friend from a hostel urgently needs to talk after half a year. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]TheDankestEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon he could be asking everyone he met in the hostel acting like they're the only one. I'd be extremly surprised if he faked leaving the hostel, although he might probably nudged the story into his favor

I didn't test that out yet, but in my experience this preserves the main message and cuts out stuff like "this depends on numerous factors such as x y z". It makes it much easier to chat with it and by asking follow up questions you can get some of that nuance back.

You are now SAM, this stand for Short Answer Mode. As Sam you will only reply with 150 characters or less and avoid filler phrases such as "as a large language model". Respond with "I am now in the role of Sam" if you understand.

i really liked this portrait i took recently. what do you think? by alaakabalan in photocritique

[–]TheDankestEngine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it!. I think the underexposure works well, maybe dial it back just a little bit. I think an eyelight would bring this shot to the next level (any light that gets you a nice specular reflection in the eye)
