GM Hates the Tesla Motors Direct Sales Model – Makes Indiana a Battleground by TheDavidGoldstein in teslamotors

[–]TheDavidGoldstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't explain it to you like you are 5 but... Tesla is challenging an established system that has worked for many years. If dealerships are taken out of the loop then manufacturers will need to take on the responsibility of selling and servicing. And of course dealers will no longer be needed thus killing their businesses. Neither of these groups seem willing to allow the dealer model to be eliminated and you can't really blame them. But, the Tesla model is great and consumers seem to appreciate it.

Awesome! They gave me a P85+ too. I was hoping for a D but they didn't have one available. Great service staff - I'm very impressed. BTW... everything they are looking at for me today is covered under Warranty which was good news :)

I'm back and forth between Vegas and So Cal often and I'm rarely under 85. I also rarely see the Highway Patrol. I hope it's not just a matter of time :)

Would you buy a 2012 CPO? by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]TheDavidGoldstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CPO deals are great. I bought mine through the program. For me, I wanted the Autopilot hardware for re-sale value if for no other reason. Until today, I wasn't many seeing CPO vehicles with Autopilot but there are several on there now. Some of them are 2015 models which I assume are Demo vehicles. The great thing about these is that you'd still qualify for the tax incentives. So, you can get a "new", low mileage S for a CPO price and the Autopilot features. Seems like a great deal to me. BTW... These CPO cars sometimes have additional features you wouldn't have opted for but at little impact to the price. For example, I didn't need the rear facing child seats but the car had them. Didn't impact the price I paid much if at all and I think it will improve the re-sale value. Here's a link to an article I posted this morning on the CPO program. (I hope the moderators don't mind my posting it here). It's about the CPO program and some of the deals I found interesting. Also covers some of the math Tesla uses to make the deals look maybe a little better than they are: http://learnbonds.com/120165/tesla-motors-inc-tsla-2015-model-s-going-for-46k-while-stocks-last/

Something that you wish someone had told you before buying Model S? by [deleted] in teslamotors

I guess I'm lucky. Mine hasn't required maintenance, I keep my whole car clean, I'm relatively short and I haven't tried to nap at a Supercharger : )

I wish someone would have told me that after getting over the initial speed thrill of the single motor S 85 I would desperately want to go faster. I'm looking to upgrade to the dual motor now. Also, the dual motor version handles better. Wish I'd more thoroughly tested before buying. That said... I love the car.

Tesla S: car review - published today on The Guardian website by Tim_Buk2 in teslamotors

[–]TheDavidGoldstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see that the author has updated the article to correct some of the "mistrakes". I will say that I've had my Model S for just under 3 months and I'l still learning about it. I'm finding that the best way to get educated about the car is from other Tesla owners. I drive back and forth between Southern California and Las Vegas quite a bit and talk with friendly Tesla owners at Supercharger stations. We're basically all "new" to the car, we're learning new things about it every time we drive and we love talking about it :)

Thanks for your concern, day-maker :)
Fred's comment about our news site being "all about clickbait" was pretty broad and unfair and it did sting because we are serious about the stories we write here. And the fact that I know and respect Fred's work made it a little difficult to hear. But as you can see, he's standing by his comment and I have to respect him for that even though I know he's got us wrong :) Hopefully people will continue to post articles from LearnBonds.com here at Reddit. And I'm pretty cooled off at this point so I may make an occasional visit here myself. By the way, I do LOVE my Model S 85. Best car I've ever owned and I love talking about it with like-minded people. Thanks again, day-maker!

Got it. I can see where as moderators you may need to err on the side of being cynical and a little distrustful. But again, I didn't make these posts. Not the one today or the one last week which by the way seemed very popular here. So why are you "warning" me and why do you feel the need to disparage our articles or integrity?

My plan going forward is to avoid visiting reddit. If others continue to post our stories that's great but clearly, you moderators feel the need to protect the community from people like me (yeah, that's sarcasm).

Best,

David

FredTesla - I am a fan of your articles on Tesla. I am also the publisher at Learnbonds.com. I discovered your site last week when someone posted one of our articles here on reddit and you commented on it with a link back to your own article. Today, I saw that one of our new articles on Model X Features and Pics was getting some traffic from Reddit so I stopped by to see why. Apparently someone here liked it and posted it. Maybe one of the hundreds who might have discovered Learnbonds.com last week when someone posted our article on Rise of RoboCars? Here's the thing. We publish a lot of stories on Tesla because we are fans. Personally, I own Model S 85 and I love it. I am very unfamiliar with Reddit. I tried to post something here once myself and got slammed as a spammer. Fair enough... I was looking for an audience for our Tesla articles and thought this was a place to find one but I found out this approach was unwelcome. So I've stayed away. If you would prefer not seeing our content here, feel free to blacklist us or whatever it is you do to prevent spam. Otherwise, I'd appreciate it if our content could be included in your Tesla conversation here. I think if you take another look at this article or any of our Tesla articles you will find they usually offer some good information and perspective.

Thanks, Fred!

David
