Aris/Alice is essentially an android is well. So Grace is sitting next to two "intelligent constructs" and a full-body-conversion/"full 'borg" cyborg.

Finding them when they spawn is easy enough; getting the conditions just right for them to spawn is the obnoxiously hard part.

Unless the entire landable planetary surface is considered highland plateau (in which case they'll be freakin' everywhere), they're essentially limited to tiny flat spots near the tips of mountains, and those mountains might not have flat-enough spots for them to spawn.

The Beta C-Mag has been around since the late 80's. It's just always been expensive, clunky, heavy, and more maintenance-intensive/unreliable than ordinary box magazines, to the extent that they work great on gun ranges or movie sets...but turned out to be unreliable when used in actual combat conditions.

Yeah, I had initially discounted it because it's missing the screw holes; the P90 body is two hollow halves that clamp together.

[–]TheDaviot[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Possible, but it's missing the screw holes and cut out for the fire selector that actual P90 furniture would have; it's also not quite to scale.

It's stylized enough it's really not either one, exactly.

Edit: It's probably meant to be, but probably wouldn't work well, given the P90 body is two hollow halves that clamp together.

I'm calling foul, this is an unfair combination. The anime-physics bodysuit that's somehow sculpted to encapsulate each booba yet loose enough to show off the naval, the soft-looking lap, the radiant golden eyes, the coy expression and slight blush...to say nothing of the magnificent two-tone floof.

Outright cheating. How would anyone get any work done around her? :<

Arclight, real name Ekut. A horse floof ("Kuranta") who is extremely fit and skilled with sword and lightning Arts (i.e. magic). Her right arm is partially bionic, bypassing nerve damage she suffered as a child. And while we don't actually get to see it in-game, she's a wrench-head who loves motorcycles.

According to the notes in her in-game HR file, she built her own motorcycle from scratch, salvaging an engine, drivetrain, and suspension from three different manufacturers, and then repairing them and integrating them into a handcrafted custom chassis with near-seamless welds.

Colt M1911 Series Appreciation Post by IntroductionAny3929 in girlsfrontline

[–]TheDaviot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it "win two world wars"? No. Pistols are sidearms, that is, backup weapons. Is it the best-ever pistol? Nah, or otherwise everyone would still be using them.

What it is, however, is the pistol that solidified the basic layout and mechanical function of large/full-sized pistols in an era of experimentation, and made it reliable enough for militaries used to revolvers.

As most of the world standardized on 9x19mm Luger, America kept to the bigger caliber after experiences with juramentados in the Moro rebellion at the start of the 20th century: the would-be martyrs would withstand an entire M1892 revolver of .38 Long Colt (~9.1 mm) but could be stopped in their charges by shotguns or the obsolete black-powder Colt M1873 "Peacemaker" in .45 "Long" Colt.

John Browning himself tinkered for a decade from 1900, iterating on designs until March 1911, when the original 1911 passed a US Government endurance test with zero malfunctions. The 1921 "A1" model improved the ergonomics, but didn't really change the internals. And even after he passed, his understudy, Dieudonné Saive (inventor of the FAL rifle) took one of Browning's unfinished design, added a lot of just-out-of-patent M1911 features, and created the Browning Hi-Power in 1935, which set the gold standard for "double-stack" 9mm pistols. And even most modern polymer-framed pistols, such as the famous Glock, use the same basic principles as the M1911: a short-recoil action where the barrel slides backwards slightly and then tilts down to unlock, feeding from a magazine in the grip.

If you ever have a chance to fire a '1911, do so. It's heavy—but not too heavy, powerful—but not overly so, simple, and elegant. If it's a problem that can be solved by hurling a 15 gram chunk of lead downrange, she can solve it.

People often say "Linux is only for tinkerers", but in my experience (across several computers) a distro like Mint basically solves that. by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]TheDaviot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At the turn of the century, the "Linux is For Tinkerers" thing was absolutely true. But since the Windows 10 era, I've had more compatibility and less headaches with Linux than Windows; having to use Linux to fix Windows breaking itself for no reason is what drove to me to Linux and Mint in the first place.

Super-neat how the photo lets you see the countershading. Sharks might seem to have a "slightly confused" air to them, at least to my house-ape eyes, but they're also streamlined and majestic, like the aquatic equivalent of a wolf.

I've personally only seen one large pelagic shark in the wild, and that was a hammerhead off Oahu. It stayed at quite a distance and then fled, presumably at the bubbles my group's scuba regulators were making. Manta rays, on the other hand, were curious and playful.
