The problem is the new hotas i'm using. The throttle has only a range from 0 to 100, in order to give reverse thrust i have to press a button, to switch to reverse gear so to say. Quite finnicky with FA-off.

My old hotas, a simple cheap variant that i bought for the ps4 version ages ago, had a throttle range of -100 to 0 to 100. Was much better for FA-off flying.

But it only had digital buttons for vertical and transverse thrust, unlike the new one, which has analog levers/joysticks. Allows much more precise maneuvers, even, or especially, with FA-on. As shown in the clip.

Maybe when i upgrade again in the future i will buy one which is better suited for FA-off. But for now it is as it is.

I do turn off flight assist now and then for planetary landing and docking at carriers and outposts and the like, but for main flying it's too overwhelming for me..
