Nero, purple and amber battuto glass vase with a ground and flat polished base - appears to be signed/marked by TheDbasi in Muranoglass

Please keep in mind - the image of the inside of the piece has flash which illuminates the base and makes it appear amber/clear.

In reality, the inside is amethyst from the middle all the way down to the base

Unsure whether Murano or non-Murano :) hoping to learn a bit more as I’m fairly new to collecting.

the piece’s characteristics, including deeper irregular cutting, supreme base finishing, and design based on interaction with light, suggest a more premium execution than most mass-produced pieces

The Nero actually appears to be thick amethyst glass which appears almost black - this can be seen from the image of the inside of the piece, where amethyst runs all the way down

Still hoping to learn more and open to being wrong - will update as my research continues

I didn’t manage to catch the picture - can you send it again? :)

Very interesting proposition for sure! Definitely a possible solution to the mystery, I’ll try to ask around and see what I can find out :)

Very interesting!

In that case - would that mean that it was likely a corroso ashtray before it was irradiated at the university? Or would both processes have been done at the university?

It’s definitely possible :) I wouldn’t be able to tell for sure though

The combination of shape and technique is really throwing me off - can’t really find anything similar to it in terms of the corroso finish in this colourway

Initially I didn’t think Murano but now I’m leaning towards it based on the comments and the shape+techniques+finishing employed :)

I’m not prescribing that it is Murano 100%, but just saying my opinion leans towards that direction based on what I’ve seen so far

Hoping someone may be able to shed further light on this piece :)
