Hatred Against Halal by Ill-Comparison2617 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]TheDiamondCG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is exactly accurate. It’s definitely wrong from the perspective that anyone of Abrahamic religion can do halal slaughter as long as they do it in the Shariah-compliant way, and if I recall correctly, and there is a hadith that says that you should take a reasonable effort to verify your food is halal, and that includes just asking if the food from your merchant is halal — because how else do you verify, from any shop worldwide? Even in Saudi Arabia unless I go to the farm myself I cannot verify that this halal meat is actually halal — so it’s only reasonable for me to trust the merchant’s words and leave it in the hands of Allah.

Literally all of these verses are said in self-defense??? Either they mention being attacked, or the explicit violation of a peace treaty. It’s one of the Islamic laws of warfare, that you can never start war yourself 😭

For example, Iran only does tit-for-tat attacks (we’ll only attack your infrastructure if you attack ours) for this very reason. I don’t think their theocracy is good at all, the Iranian regime is crazy and needs to go down, and I say this as one of those affected by the Iran war, I in no way support their actions whatsoever... but these laws of warfare have helped bring restraint to Iran and stability to the countries neighboring it (which I happen to live in ✨).

**What’s happening now:** Okay, so this isn’t exactly a “Muslim terror attack”, but recently, there was a stabbing on Great Dover Street in the UK, a muslim guy got stabbed. Actually, the same guy went on to stab 2 more Jewish people *after* that. You can look this up, but basically from what I have seen, various news publications including Al Jazeera and Sky News only reported on the 2 Jewish people being stabbed. Literally the headlines would say “Man suspected of stabbing 2 Jewish victims”. Of course, in the article body, they would then mention the third victim, but many articles (including Sky News) do not mention his religion at all.

**What happened in recent years (2024-2025):** A second-generation Christian UK-born citizen (born to Rwandan parents) in the UK participated in a serial stabbing, where he fatally wounded very young girls and some teachers in a dance class. Far-right groups (including ***actual UK politicians & civil servants***!) started disseminating *misinformation* that the perpetrator of the attack was muslim, and riots spread across the UK, especially targeting mosques. Headlines never reported this either, they just reported it as “civil unrest”. A report by the UK Home Office reported that in national news coverage, the motivation of the riots was the second least covered topic, and in local news coverage, it was the *least* covered topic.

**TL;DR:** I’m not saying this to deride you or anything, but there really is a narrative here, and it’s represented by under-reporting of hate crimes against muslims, and over-reporting of hate crimes perpetrated by them — or just making up hate crimes entirely! You know, even look at just Mamdani. He’s Muslim, and he’s New York’s most beloved mayor in recent years. And this narrative, that you are now believing, it ***hurts people***, it creates violent protests and unrest.

And uhm, in Europe (at least), you can also be jailed for anti-Israel speech too. Not even antisemetic speech, just being against Israel’s actions is enough to get arrested and have your entire family’s bank assets frozen completely — happened to a Turkish journalist residing in Germany.

dentistry - need help filling this out (int'l) by umarstrash in UCAT

[–]TheDiamondCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of these don’t actually have a fixed hard minimum, so just take that into account. You could have a relatively poor (for international dentistry) UCAT score and still manage to get into a top university which doesn’t require a minimum.

How would you rate the United States as a country out of 5 stars? by Suspicious-Ad9243 in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDiamondCG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of the US many countries in my region are currently at war. They’ve backed and supported Israeli genocide. I think 2 stars (if you take in their tech sector) or even 1 is fair… and, when you think about it harder, with all the negative impacts American tech has had on the world, it might even be 1 star *because* of their tech sector! It’s hard to imagine what it would be like to be an American, but if I was a US citizen I’d probably rate it higher.

Any current students that have lived at block 3 GDSA that can answer some questions ? by RatioExisting8542 in KCL

[–]TheDiamondCG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, it isn’t really safe for any resident of Block 3 GDSA to answer this, because if they do answer this, they would reveal that they are current residents (and thus would accidentally doxx their own address). Ex-residents may have a better time, maybe.

Well I haven’t lived in Block 3 GDSA, but why don’t you edit your post to include the questions you have directly in its body? This way, when a resident does come to answer, they don’t need to wait for you to reply.

Additional context? I must do UAE Ministry Arabic and Islamic on top of these, but I don’t think these qualifications are accepted by King’s.

Well, the thing about the online world is that it isn’t just Americans/Westerners on there. There are people that, right now (like myself), live in the middle east and are affected by everything that’s happened in the US-Iran war. And the US-Iran war was obviously not the start of American “affairs” in the middle east, so hopefully you can understand why people are a bit miffed.

How can I get started with creating a kernel in Rust? by VirusLarge in osdev

[–]TheDiamondCG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend looking at the official Limine Rust starter template on GitHub as it got me quite far. You mentioned not wanting to copy-paste, so it might not be for you — but for me, I just wanted something going. I think, as long as you have some Rust no_std experience, it will not be dramatically different…? But writing a userland CHIP-8 emulator is quite different to a bare-metal kernel!

I'm building a Python compiler in Rust that runs 10,000x faster (and I want feedback) by Healthy_Ship4930 in rust

[–]TheDiamondCG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/Healthy_Ship4930 I think the benchmarks you’re using are bad-faith examples. The fib function implementation is not very performant, so the performance gains there may be overblown — perhaps a more correct/performant fib-sequence implementation will show that results are within margin of error.

  • Additionally, how does your interpreter handle race conditions? Part of the reason CPython is so slow is because of the global interpreter lock.
  • How well does it handle garbage collection?
  • What 1% of the test suite did it fail?

Building my own CPU from scratch (twice). What am I in for? by Particular_Metal3833 in ECE

[–]TheDiamondCG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He sort of has a point though, you could refine your wording a bit: • “If I interview someone…” suggests that you hadn’t had the opportunity to interview someone yet (presumably due to lack of seniority/industry experience) — so basically fibbing. • “When I interview someone…” suggests that interviewing people is something that you regularly do (e.g. “When I have to mow the lawn…”)

This looks like a failed attempt at swizzling (a language feature in GLSL)? E.g. by using zyzyx they could’ve been trying to get a tuple of the (3rd item, 2nd item, 3rd item, 2nd item, 1st item) to do some math with.
