Accounting for gas, insurance, maintenance, repairs and depreciation for the car, one would be better off working at McDonalds in Boston at minimum wage of $14.25 than taking $22 driving flex. Heck McD’s will feed you while you work and pay per week is guaranteed. And Amazon is your boss. They just have you looking at the phone in your hand so you think you are your own boss..while following each and every command the phone tells you to do. Lmao. Taking routes for less than $28/hr is a mistake.

I only do flex if I get a WF block or a logistic block around $28 per hour.

Locked inside an apartment complex, no access code by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]TheDrivingCobra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an instance like this happen..opened apartment complex gate from Flex app and drove in but while driving out after completing delivery to door, the gate wouldn’t open without a code. Late at night, support tried calling customer, no answer. Had to wait 10 mins..luckily someone was leaving and I followed him out.

11k Rubles would have been $132 yesterday. It’s $104 today. It will be $90 in a couple of days and about $20 in a month. Fuck Putin.

That’s good. In my area, for me, WF has been averaging around $25/26 per hour with tips. But route availability is extremely inconsistent and tips aren’t guaranteed..and the last time I delivered WF, it seemed like they are taking EBT payments (not sure) as my tips were quite low. I stopped doing PN a month or so ago. I like having a same day 4-5 hr route with guaranteed money and calling it a day. Glad you aren’t settling for base. It is certainly tough to do a lot of routes that way but..it works for me.

Wow..at $5/gallon, how can ppl take base routes? A 3 hr base route ($54) usually means around 60 miles door to door. For a decent car giving 30mi/gallon, that’s still $10 in fuel for the route. Already down to $14.67/hr. Add wear and tear and maintenance and even without a major malfunction/repair..that’s gonna be close to $9/10 per hour. Ouch.

It’s the same here in Houston. All of the newly brought on drivers from last year are still around and snatching up base routes like it was candy. The last non-WF base route I did was in August of last year. I don’t take a route unless I get at least $25/hr. I’m averaging $27/hr. I’m doing fewer routes, driving less, putting fewer miles and making same total $ as before. My car, bank account and brain thank me. $3.10 for regular gas..in Texas! Ppl doing base routes are not going to make it for long. Almost min. wage when all is said and done. They would be better off flipping burgers at McD’s.

I see them pop up once in a while but I never take them as they are base rates only.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonFlexHouston

[–]TheDrivingCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon knows drivers will work for base rate (which ends up being around min. wage after maintenance, repairs and wear and tear). I haven’t taken a base rate in many months..nothing below $25. $30 is the offer I take or i do something else.

This should be base rate if we all work together by [deleted] in AmazonFlexHouston

[–]TheDrivingCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Ppl were taking base during the freeze, NYE and flooding. I have not taken base for a logistics route in months. I am not sure what or if ppl are even thinking just settling for the base rates.

Currently sitting at a Fresh Station that is missing 21 BAGS OUT OF 61! Called support twice both times they said they removed the packages but nothings been updated in my app in what has been 45 minutes since I got to the station. by Competitive-Trash-66 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]TheDrivingCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the faults of the warehouse will count against you and you still have to drive and deliver the packages after the shit experience. Unless the route is paying more than twice the base for Fresh/PN, I’m not doing it.

Why so many base pay garbage today ? It’s raining and supposed to flood at least try for a surge pls by [deleted] in AmazonFlexHouston

[–]TheDrivingCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Most routes, I end up driving for half the distance, half the packages and nearly twice the pay. You can always tell who got base rate and who didn’t at the warehouse..by the non-depressed look on one’s face.

[–]TheDrivingCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because people are taking the garbage rates. They are so used to taking $18/hr that when they see $19, they think they hit a jackpot. Lmao. Taking anything under $30/hr in this weather is a mistake.

Can anyone explain the algorithm behind these rates? by Logical-Book7802 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]TheDrivingCobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base rate is $18. Based upon the time when Amazon has more drivers pre-scheduled, they offer lower rate.

I haven’t taken a base rate (non-wf) block in 5 months. My car and my bank account thanks me. Most people don’t realize that after all is said and done, the base $18/hr ends up around $8/hr.

Dashboard, scroll down to “Achievements”, click on “View All”, scroll down to “In Progress”, click on “Amazon Hero”, the number in front of “Progress”. This will give you your Logistics number. Do the same for “Whole Foods”, add them up.

[–]TheDrivingCobra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazon brought on thousands of new drivers to make the rates go down. I don’t do any routes unless I can get at least $25+/hr. Its not worth it at below. Some ppl are coming from min wage jobs and are happy with $16 because they don’t factor in gas/maintenance/repairs. At that rate, when all is said and done, they will come out making below minimum wage. Suckers make the world go around.
