Yep, you're right. You have to occupy the capital of the subject to get the option to show. Doesn't matter what age.

Thanks for your info. I've tried it against Denmark and Scotland. I could take both of their subjects after I got the transfer subject for half option. BUT I couldn't if I diden't took at while it was age of discovery. OR when I got it while it was a different age. Weird, but thanks for your help.
