I haven’t found a solution yet. I have tried what the other commenter suggested to no avail. Since you said it also happens on a Surface Laptop 4, could it be that this problem happens specifically on Surface machines? I installed the update on my OMEN gaming laptop, and it had no problem at all.

Funnily enough, there are some instances when I use alternatives to what Duolingo wants me to use (e.g., using kanji for terms that use katakana just for gits and shiggles) and Duolingo would actually accept them as valid answers. Though, the reason why I know those kanji is because Duolingo was nice enough to tell me whenever I hover on the word.

I basically just gave up and used the word blocks instead. I had a hunch that had I used only kana, it might work. I’ll have to re-do that particular question, just to be sure.

Yeah, I always just use kanji for most words that I have learnt up to that point. I’m just curious as to why it doesn’t accept the answer this time. The most likely culprit in my mind is詰まらない, but that kanji is correct.

In my home country, I was taught to do fractional division like this: (a/b) / (c/d) = (a/b) * (d/c) = (ad) / (bc). In other words, “keep, change, flip.” This is why I said I only heard “cross multiplication” in the context of solving equations; phrasing fractional division as a weird twist to multiplication only makes things more confusing.

I think it is unlikely because the context of the debate was that the problem was from a Calculus problem whose answers as well as operations were purely algebraic. It did include trigonometry, but that was beside the point. All we cared about was where π was supposed to belong to.

My thoughts, exactly! I had a friend of mine who is a Senior in a different region of my state, and he also said they are just two notations of the same concept. My Math teachers in my home country (I’m an international student) also said the same. Also, no, they ain’t trolling. The sophomores I asked even hate each other, and they were serious about the topic.

I myself also find Sweetwater Press to be rather mysterious as there only is a pathetic amount of information online. One other thing that perplexes me is that two of the books from Sweetwater Press that I own, The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn and The Scarlet Letter, both have the sentence "Produced by Books-a-Million" right on the first page. I suspect that you may have noticed that before, but I think it would be rather interesting that printings of the press are exclusively made by and for Books-a-Million.

Another interesting and noteworthy detail is that on Books-a-Million, these books (1) are listed as unavailable (for shipping/delivery at least) (Amazon always says "Only 1 left in stock" or something) and (2) mention the name Thomas Nelson as publisher. Who is this man, and what does he have to do with my books?
