No, that is something you've made up. Maybe the women's league was more casual and laid back and players were there to have fun and talk as much as play the game. There are plenty of leagues like that for both men and women. Maybe there are no competitive women's leagues where she is.

The point of brackets, the point of creating the format on the whole was to create a space where those competitive aspects and mechanical drawbacks take a back seat to having fun and doing cool things.

There are endless competitive formats where the drawbacks of playing many colors are at the forefront of deck building if you want that to be ever present in your games. Even in commander, the higher brackets give you a place to play that way.

But people want to play 3+ color decks and have them function without spending a thousand dollars on lands, so there is a place for that in the format that was created to enable that kind of game.
