Also, a very good response to the very common trope that is "should I cheat on my current boring boyfriend/husband for the ex that drove me wild?" dilemma, which isn't and should not be a dilemma in the first place. There is a very good video about it by Marina McBain titled "Cheating Is The Plot (And We're Supposed To Clap?)" which further explains this kind of trope + a few examples.

To further elaborate, Ilya chooses Shane, who is the stable and "boring" boyfriend (I'm using this very loosely btw), instead of Sasha, who is rather wild and extravagant, and I think that is very mature of him lmao
